Song: Farewell - Apocalyptica

Farewell, a beautiful and haunting piece drawing from the deepest and terrifyingly intimate parts of one’s soul.
This song inspired me to think about those that we have lost and the link to what remains.

The loss of a loved one, because of either, simply, the lives of the lover s drifting apart or what is often more tormenting to ones soul; the sudden loss through death.
This is a pictured grave in Aachen (which I have visited personally) in a Jewish cemetery.
(but alas, I did not take a picture, However I fortunately found an amazing photo of it, right here on DA!! [link] )

This, rightly or wrongly, brings me to the terrible atrocity of war, and when listening to Farewell by Apocalyptica, I can’t help but shudder at quite how many families, loved ones, mothers, fathers, had to say farewell.

The subject is naked as often a goodbye is an undisguised, truly revealing moment, in harmony to being unclothed and unprotected.

The pain in a person’s heart, and the emptiness that is so violently left can rarely (if not, never) be portrayed through a work of art (not that any of us will ever stop trying) but this is my attempt to show; through song, our imagination and our memories those that we have had to say farewell to will never be forgotten and live on eternally on the page.

I adjusted the contrast (as it came up very faint as my style is not particularly bold, instead more delicate) hence the slightly edited look to this piece. But other than that, nothing changed digitally.
