For context when Fuyuko was 4 years old her family moved to Japan from Sweden due to Fuyuko's father business moving to Japan. At the age of seven years old, Fuyuko decided to go explore the area since she was a bit older. With the eager of exploring the new lands of this country, she was very eagar to discover new landscapes and hidden wonders that Japan had to offer. It was during one of these explorations that fate intervened, bringing her face-to-face with a young boy named Rengoku. They became friends and secretly they would visit each other when they could. This was during their secret meetings, Fuyuko met Rengoku in the middle of a peach garden that Fuyuko's family owned, there she made a flower crown for him. Rengoku interested asked her how she made that, and she showed how to make one. Then after they made together, Rengoku put on her head showing his gratitude towards her. After then their feelings would develop from their and over time, their bond evolved beyond friendship, blossoming into an unexpected romance. Their affection for one another became evident through stolen glances, genuine smiles, and the unspoken language of their hearts.

However fate would intervened again but much more tragically, at the age of 14 years old Fuyuko and her sister Lily (Reika) had to run an errand for their mother. When Fuyuko and Reika came home, they found a demon had killed their family. After burying her family with her sister Reika helping her, Fuyuko vowed to kill all demons to repay her family being killed. After that, she would join the Demon Slayer Corps. Because of that Rengoku would not see her until he was much older, he would only reconnected with her again when Fuyuko became a hashira.
