My first university submission! I was so so so SOOO proud of it ahh. A fidgety little bugger this one was (pardon the bug pun) but I'm so glad it worked out in the end. It's made of gilding metal and copper, managed to send it to be silver plated on the last day! I also made that terrarium the night before submission - not because I was procrastinating, but because I got the idea for that display on the last day :'D The resin raindrops weren't even fully dry when I displayed it whoops.Can't believe I got a damn 68% on it. I gave myself 91% when they told us to rate ourselves! I asked my tutor to give me more critique rather than constantly telling me "excellent" on everything I do. Hopefully the next assignment will go better, we're working on a set of stacking rings right now. Stone setting is very difficult xOx
Anyway, this fella isn't for sale! Until I am comfortable with my silvermithing skills I'm going to stick with what I know shop-wise, once I start selling silver though it will be re-branding time. And that might happen quite soon I think!
University is one of the main reasons why I'm not as active as I used to be, too. Other one being an extra part-time job for me to stop stressing over rent every month. I love my shop, but it can be way too unstable at times.
Also I quit Patreon so you actually might see more uni work and progress stuff now! Thank you for being so patient with me guys ♥

From this point of view I would have given you a higher grade, very unique piece. I think though that they were looking for the fine details and that particular insect has loads of fiddly bits.

Yeah my tutor did mention it's very detailed and he did give me extra for being able to work with very thin metal, I think I mostly got marked down for not having enough sketchbook work. I'm a maker, what can I do -shrug-

Most silversmiths I know work with a team to take care of tedious parts. That's what apprenticeships are for.

Oh my gosh Frozen, this is absolutely phenomenal! o0o <3 The display is absolutely gorgeous too, how the heck did this get a 68?! >:' ( It looks so accurate to the actual insect!! I hate it when teachers make you self evaluate, and then don't tell you how you can do better >_< (I loathe self evaluation in art school haha)
Definitely be proud of this piece!! It really is amazing!!
