Venom is a snarky bastard who is not afraid to chew you out. While he can have a good laugh here and there, he takes his job very seriously as any misstep could lead to death.
He was partly raised by Spike as a courtesy to Garble [who's kind of a mess as a single dad]
Lacy, Spike's daughter, is in love with him
He is aware of this.

His mother Prominence gave him up to Garble as an egg.
Venom knows this and has spoken to her about it.
Prominence is quite severely sociopathic and doesn't connect emotionally with anyone and is ambivalent about whether Venom is around or not

Yes, Venom has issues with his parents but unlike Garble who's just a bad parent that he can build a relationship with, Prominence by nature cannot build upon her relationship with her son. She lacks any social conscience
