This is really beautiful. The colors and textures definitely work well to create the feeling of a galaxy.

Critique three as requested. Β Once again, beautiful background! Β I especially like the bottom portion whether the colors seamlessly blend and bleed into each other. Β The girl look good as well, but I suggest experimenting with her skin especially regarding lights and shadows. Β She needs cooler shades in her skin, especially because the background is so dark. Β I also suggest studying highlights in hair, the white streaks are somewhat distracting.

Thank you for the critique!! I agree with you, haha XD It's always helpful to have another perspective to point out the mistakes you couldn't see before~

Those colors and textures you've managed to make with the watercolors look fantastic! I really love each and every little detail you've added in this piece, and the white paint (or white gel pen, whichever you've used) really adds a good contrast to the dark background!

Haha thank you very much! I'm really glad you think so ^^ And I used a mixture of white paint and gel pen on this piece so you were right for both guesses hahaha XDD

I really like this! I like the blend of colors and the colors used, the detail is also amazing, every hour of work definitely paid off! The only things you shoud work on is just the layout of the elements in the paintings, you should be the one that decides how to lead the eye of the person looking at it (your focus point is very clear, but other elements and details, no matter how significant should lead the eye back to the focus point ). But hell, I haven't even mastered it yet I like how in the top of the painting there are more objects, and how you compensated the lack of objects in the lower part with colors, fantastic! Also, I don't know what U used for the outlines, they look a bit sloppy, you should maybe try doing them with black ink, just so the details, like her eyelashes, are more prominent and visible Overall it is a fantastic peace, I'm really interested in what will you create next Great job, I hope this helps! If you ever need or want some constructive criticism on any other works too, just ask!

Oh my goodness thank you so much for taking the time to write this critique!~ <333 It really made my day ;w;
For the outline, I did use black ink, but I think when I erased the pencil lines, and then watercoloured over it, the ink sorta faded away lol ;w; I'll keep in mind to retouch on my linearts when watercolouring next time XD
Thanks again for the tips

The shading and colour pallet are impressive! Looks like you've worked hard on this. There's a lot of "hidden" intricacy here in the small detail throughout that I feel many might disregard until looking closely. Nice work! Keep it up!

Oh thank you so much <333
In terms of inspiration, do you mean in general, or for this specific piece?
In general, it would be hard to say because there's so many great artists I look up to >.<
For this specific piece, I guess you could say I was inspired by the beauty of space, and all the pretty colours it comes in <3

Aaaahh aslfjgdlkfjgjdklds thank you so much Sumi <3 Omg I was like smiling all throughout reading your comment hahaha XD You really made my day >3< And yeah! I used salt :3 It was my first time trying it out so it didn't really work out as well as I imagined but oh wells~ Hopefully I'll find another chance to use that technique again @ u @Β
Hahahaha I'm so glad you're liking watercolours I didn't realize my tips were that useful so it makes me glad that they served their purpose o u oΒ

FruitTartz In reply to Monicherrie [2013-08-14 12:49:14 +0000 UTC]
It's not really that hard OuO You essentially just sprinkle salt over the paint, and wait for it to dry :3
Remember: Don't put the salt on an extremely wet surface otherwise it will dissolve :/ Don't put it on a surface where there's not much moisture either otherwise the effect won't show up properly. Just sprinkle the salt on a moderate amount of paint, and patiently wait for it to dry before patting it off :L
