I just finally decited to give it a shot and test the water colour brush in Sai and I LOVE it! I can't really use it yet, but I'm definitely going to use it more often. This piece here was a test drawing, so please ignore that it's somewhat sloppy.
SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 2 IN GRAVITY FALLS SEASON 2!
I actually sketched this after finishing the two first episodes of Gravity Falls season 2 (I had a headache and a stickyly working Sai at the moment, so their anatomy is really off, but meh). Gotta say, I have big expetations for this season, it started out good and hopefully will continue so! Though I have to admit that it seems kind of dark for... erm... kids show.
But anywhosies (is that even how it's spelled???) I have to give a big applause and thumbs up for Gravity Falls on how they handled the DipperxWendy situation. What I really enjoyed was how realistically that was done. Wendy was being so cool about it, gentle, flattered and nice, but still made it clear to Dipper that it's not going to happen. And that's how it would or atleast should go in the real world.
Now, I don't see age difference as a problem, I adore it when the partners in a couple aren't the same age, but it also depends on how old are they at the moment. I mean, Dipper and Wendy only have that sweet three years age difference, but when he's 12 and she's 15, she's too old for him, just like she noted. When he's 18 and she's 21, it's no big deal anymore. That's just how it goes.
I try not to write the entire scene here, but if you've seen the episode, you know what I mean.:'D
DipperxWendy never really struck me that hard. It drifted between cute and annoying, but now I really like where they left it and I'm also curious to now how it'll be from here. I kinda hope they woun't just sweep it under a rug and let it rotten like it was done with Finn and Bubblegum (my ship that sunk.;~

I've seen the idea of Dipper developing a crush on Candy and while I still ship Dipper/Wendy (like I ship Ferbnessa), I could see him dating Candy for a while; they eventually go their separate ways though, remaining casual friends since Candy's more Mable's friend anyway.
I was very pleased with how they handled her letting him down too. What nerdy kid wouldn't want to hear that their crush who they think is totally epic (and kinda is considering that whole episode was cock full of Wendy being awesome) thinks they're the coolest person they know and without them as a friend, said epic crush's life would have no meaning?

Yeah, I like Dipper and Candy as a couple. They're both kinda awkward in their own way and I personally hope they become a couple.
(I respect your opinion, I'm just sharing mine.)
And since Dipper and Wendy is no more, I think Candy would be best for him.
Other people are saying him and Pacifica, but I don't know where that's coming from. I mean, she's popular, and Mabel's enemy.

True but people will be people. Hence why there's stuff like "Cupcakes" and its ilk in MLP: FiM, "Dipper Goes to Taco Bell" for Gravity Falls (I know nothing about this except that it's apparently Gravity Falls' version of "Cupcakes") and "Snapped" for Phineas and Ferb (*shudder* psycho Yandere Isabella does NOT need to exist).

Hence why I'm working on making tvtropes.org pages for some of MY favorite fics. If "Cupcakes", "Snapped" and the like can get pages, then by golly, the happier (for a measure of it in some cases) stuff needs pages too!

I've seen the DipperxCandy theories too (personally I like to avoid theories regardless of the fandom, because people can get really carried away with them
I mean, if they were to actually use that one in the show, I hope they'd put some thought and time to it and build a proper relationship where to stand (not too romantically, they're 12 after all). Gravity Falls is one of these shows where you really can't predict what'll happen. They're taking different non-classic or typical roads and dealing with really realistic emotions so I honestly have no hunch on where "Dipper's romantic plot" would be going.
I guess that else they'd continue the storyline with Wendy, but more platonically or they'd throw in a new one who'd be closer to his age, but you can never be too sure with Gravity Falls, and that's what I love about this show. It takes you by surprise.

I see Dipper/Candy being mostly the girls giggling about it and teasing Candy playfully about it at sleepovers though I agree with the handling being important...despite the fact I've shipped and currently ship couples in various shows that came out of nowhere from the viewers' perspective (like Matt/Sora in Digimon Adventure [English dub only though apparently] or Robin III/Wondergirl from the Young Justice cartoon).
I personally hope they'll eventually tell us what in the world that device Stan had in the Season 1 finale was for; I personally subscribe the theory about him having a long-lost twin who was the Dipper to his Mabel but I also honestly have no real hunches either.
And indeed it does; I stumbled across it one day and decided to watch it to see if it was any good. I feel in love and showed the clip of Mabel on Smile Dip to a friend who had lost his faith and he thought it was hilarious. We ended watching several episodes before he wanted to move on to other things but at least he'll admit that not all current kids shows are garbage (he sort of like Phineas and Ferb though; he's a bit like you are with Gravity Falls with P&F. I'm the mega-fan of P&F).

Honestly? Β It's probably something they'll imply at the end of a show. Β Maybe in some sort of future epilogue where Dipper comes back to Gravity Falls. (Obviously much older.)

Well, 17-18 is plenty old enough for the age gap not to matter too much so yeah; hope's not lost yet. And there's fanfiction and fanart regardless. You know what the promoters of the multiverse theory say (paraphrased into what my physics-loving friends told me so that my language-oriented brain could get the science): if you can think it and even if you can't, there's at least one universe out there where it happened (obviously that's not entirely a pleasant notion but everything has both good and bad in it).

I really like your analysis of the episodes and how they handled wendip, I share the same idea. : D Season 2 has been FREAKING EPIC so far omg my feels... Also this piece is really nice, especially since this is your first time using this brush! I'm a personal fan of "messy" styles, but I can assure you this doesn't look incomplete or anything, it looks great!
I made a post on tumblr regarding them potentially getting together once they're older, and at that same age- 18 and 21! I could totally see it happening at that time, but we really don't know what'll happen after this one summer they'll have together.
I'm honestly even more smitten over these two now... xD They were cute before, but after seeing Wendy develop more in this single episode I feel like the both of them would definitely support each other if they were to ever get together.
Dipper's really sweet, and even though he's bit selfish at this point he's still young, so once he gets older he'll probably be a huge sweetheart. At the same time, Wendy is super chill and understanding despite her headstrong personality. Like I said, I feel like it would end up working out once they're older. 8D
If they're to introduce a new character into the show as Dipper's love interest they better pull it off right. They will anyways, knowing Alex Hirsch. He always does things with good reason. C8 (i feel like Dipper's feelings will come back to haunt him anyways in a future episode this season, i mean there aint no way theyre just gonna leave it hanging haha)

You pretty much summed up how I feel about them too. It's honestly ironic how after she rejects him I actually start having these "yes! Ship it!" -feels.
I really hope they'll still continue the DipperxWendy thing and show some more platonic interaction that could serve as a potential future relationship source. In general I just want more Wendy in Gravity Falls! She was a badass in that episode. I could imagine that Dipper will be taunted more since crushes hardly tend to leave you alone all that quickly.
I know this one is very unlikely to happen, but what I'd really like to see is a couple with an age difference where the younger one first has a crush on the older one, but after they get rejected the older one slowly starts to grow little affection and feelings towards the younger one and they'd have to wrestle with it because it feels a bit wrong.
I realise they would probably never use this storyline in a cartoon "made for kids", but I think it'd be interesting. More than not, it's my personal favourite when it come to fanfic shipping.:'D
You're right, Alex will surely handle this sitch well and with reason like they'd done in the show so far.c8

I KNOW RIGHT, as I said before, I thought they looked cute, but I didn't really think they'd work even when they were older because Wendy seemed way to free to have a committed relationship. This episode changed my mind though, and now I realize that she's just driven to dating guys and doing dumb things because it's fun and she's simply an individual soul taking advantage of her age.
I feel like when she's bitten by the love bug once she's older she'll definitely not screw with Dipper's feelings (or any lover for that matter, since we don't know) and be pretty serious about it, because she's got a super understanding side to her that most people do not have. :'D Now I ship them more than ever. XD
Oh yeah I'd hope for something like that too omg I LOVE THAT SCENARIO SO MUCH. But given what was established this episode, that's probably not gonna happen. <:/ I need a "Big Dipper" episode where Dipper and Mabel get turned into teenagers for a day. I would LOVE to see how the team handles something like that. Regardless of Wendip it would certainly be interesting, but it's obvious Wendy would be involved one way or another haha.
...Now that I think of it, I feel like something like that would make good cause for that scenario, since they'd turn back to kids and the feelings would probably still be there<3

Teen!Dipper and Mabel would make an AWESOME plot! Especially if Mabel took another hit to her "totally guy crazy" character trait by having all the guys in town fall over her and freaking her out. And it would play into Dipper's feelings properly; not like the scenario with 5-year-old Wendy's crush on Dipper (or however she was; 5 sounds right but I'm not completely sure) creeping him out making him wonder about his crush on the 15-year-old Wendy creeping her out; it's weird because she's 5 and he's 12 and it would be just as weird for Dipper to have a crush on someone his parents' age (I mean one like he's got on Wendy; not a celeb crush because we've all had those).

Well, time travel's probably out cause Blendin's Game ended that but maybe a youth-stealing monster could turn up and attack the twins, turning them into teenagers and they have to reverse the process within a certain time period or it's lethal.

But yeah, I really used to love Finn with Bubblegum. I liked him with Flame Princess too, but I just preferred the other one. Thought the entire romance thing in Adventure Time has never really spoken to me all that much.:3
