Description
It's the Balloon Fighter from the classic NES game Balloon Fight (which was Nintendo's own rip-off of Williams' "Joust").When doing my earlier, more "realistic" redesigns, I played around with BF's costume a little bit, giving him a harness instead of dungarees, and giving him more hair. I carried them over into this version, but took him right back to being a fun character.
Done in Illustrator.
Edit: Fixed the colour of his shoes, and tweaked the background colours so they don't burn out eyes!

Alice is also a good choice. She's got more of a story and character. That's why I did this pic... to try and give the original Balloon Fighter a little more character than he has usually.
But Balloon Kid is one of my favourite games on the Game Boy. Did you know there was an identical version of Balloon Kid on the NES starring Hello Kitty?

Yeh, when I first played it, (I missed out on it in my childhood, so I first played it on the E-Reader, and Animal Crossing a few years ago.) I noticed it was kinda simular to the old arcade game "Joust." (But more fun in my opinion.)

If you like it, you should try the Game Boy game Balloon Kid. It uses similar ideas, but turns it into a full side-scrolling game. It's one of my favourite GB games.

I've heard of that game, they say it's sort've a sequal to Balloon Fight. I even saw some gameplay footage of it on Youtube before. It does look cool, and for a Gameboy game it has good music to.
I'll hafta look for it somewhere.
I think Nintendo should start releasing old Gameboy games on their Wii as well.
