Fullview this one.A bunch of forum members at my site Nintendo Database [link] who also have dA accounts put our names into a hat and were given a Nintendo character to draw. I got the short straw and got given a character so simple, there's a 5 second guide on how to draw him in a NES game!!
So I decided to kit him out in battle gear, mostly from the NES game, Kirby's Adventure. The Bandana first appeared in Kirby Super Star on the SNES. As did his expression
Fight on, little Kirby.

I have drawn Kirby plenty of times before, just like every other Nintendo character... it's just a lot of those were back in the days before I bothered much with dA, and I've been working on expanding out of Nintendo fanart since then

Oh yeah, so there was! It was like the Spike ability, only you could roll around. This one would be cooler.
Thanks bud! The expression is pulled from the "Jolly fellow" introduction in Kirby Super Star. Still makes me crack up to this day!

He'll totally kick your ass! He looks like...I dunno, a puffy round David Carradine with all that gear. Or maybe a puffy round Solid Snake.
Anyway, I'm working on Link right now, but I'm in a transitionary phase with my drawing styles. I don't like what's coming out. X(

I tried so many different pose sketches before cursing at his simplicity. Then I rummaged through sketches, and eventually settled on Swiss Army Kirby here
Keep at it man. Transitional drawing phases are always awkward, but think of them like growing pains. When they're over, you'll be more of a MAN!

A man indeed! Right now I'm combining two things I'm struggling with (differing art style + perspective) but I'm convinced this will be the best Link drawing I've ever done.
Seeing as it's the ONLY Link drawing I've ever done, that doesn't say much. But onward to manliness anyway!

Just remember not to work on too much at the same time or you'll burn yourself out and won't want to draw for ages. Focus on one improvement at a time - and don't try to do finished pieces until you're happy you're going in the right direction.
I need to work on hands and feet. They're still driving me nuts after all this time. Luckily, not a problem with Kirby
