Description Nintober 2011 - 1 Nintendo monster for every day in October.

025. Mountain Witch
This is one I wanted to add. Not many people will have played this sequel to Shin Onigashima (it's fairly obscure, even in Japan), but last year I played through it and this chapter was a highlight. The Mountain Witch starts as a serious threat, then you meet the old lady. Matsunosuke is oblivious to what's happening, even as she starts to decay and transform, but you have to go along with it. Then the action chase scene. I was stuck on that for a while!

I did played the SNES game (because back in the day I was very curious about Shin Onigashima series). And yeah, she scared the hell out of me, especially on how not knowing what was going on because of the langauge barrier. Gotta admit her persistence, though.

I was hoping that, with the release of the virtual console, Nintendo would start translating and bringing over more of their old Japanese games. Like this or Nazo no Murasame Jō or heck, most of the Fire Emblem games. But that never happened. Ah well.

Nice art. I'm not too familiar with this game but the way you described it sounds rad.

I don't speak Japanese, but I had some translation tools to hand. I played through Shin Onigashima and Yuuyuuki, then this one. Love 'em! I'd love to see some full remakes of them.

One website with the list of instructions, another website that explained the plot, Google Translate, and a lot of trial and error

Ah, nice to see a pretty obscure one here. Even I didn't know about this one.
