Story
"Could you go get Moana on the big field for me Eli? He's standing with his blue halter on."
Andrew asked Eli. It was a beautiful sunny day outside, not a cloud in the sky, and warm as well. But Andrew had some work to do, so he was stuck inside, oiling and taking care of all the equipment. It had to be done, especially now that they had started to enter some shows, better look good for the judges. He really wanted Eli and the horses to do well, it would be such a confidence boost.
"Yeah, of course! No problem."
Eli grabbed a lead rope, smiling. It wasn't that often Andrew asked someone else to get his horse for him, he preferred to do all the work himself, not because he didn't think other people would be a good job, but because he liked working with horses. And he stood by the rule that if you get an animal, you better take good care of it. But Eli had nothing against helping out, especially if it meant Andrew being a bit happier and warming up a little. Moana was standing on the field, staring at a pretty mare outside the field. A beautiful seal bay mare, with long flowing mane and tail. No wonder he was staring, Eli could hardly take eyes away from the mare. She had pretty golden details in her fur, and long lashes, what a feminine horse! Eli felt almost jealous for a horse being prettier than most humans.
"Well boy, you have to come with me now. You'll have plenty of time to play with mares later on."
Eli opened the gate and clipped on the leadrope. But Moana didn't move, standing firm, whinnying.
"Come on...."
Moana slowly moved out of the field, and then he stopped completely, pulling backwards on the rope, not wanting to leave the mare.
"You got.. Come here!"
Eli pulled harder, and Moana pulled against the rope again, ears backwards, starting to get aggressive. Urghh, why are boys so difficult!! Eli thought while pulling and begging Moana to move.
"Having a hard time?"
Andrew laughed, walking up to Moana. At the blink of an eye Moana calmed down, ears forward. He even put his nose against Andrews shoulder, wanting to be petted.
"Sorry for that, I didn't know there would be a mare nearby. He can be a bit of a hassle.."
Andrew took the lead rope, brushing Eli's hand while doing so.
"Come here boy.. Let's go inside."
Moana gladly followed Andrew. Eli blushed, feeling so ashamed and stupid. Couldn't even get a horse from the field without help, and especially stupid because it was Andrew's horse.
"Don't worry about it Eli. He's a stupid stallion with no control.. Like most boys, haha!"
Andrew laughed and put his hand on Eli's shoulder to comfort the younger rider. He knew how difficult it could be to be young and insecure. Eli probably just needed some years, and everything would be better.

Andrew asked Eli. It was a beautiful sunny day outside, not a cloud in the sky, and warm as well. But Andrew had some work to do, so he was stuck inside, oiling and taking care of all the equipment.
