Is barszcz kind of like borscht? I'm not sure if there are different ways to spell that. I love both anyway!

I'm Jewish and don't celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah is celebrated for a eight days and usually begins before Christmas, the date is different every year. It's a very sentimental holiday for us Jews and the food is pretty wonderful too.

Aaaa! I love barszcz! My family is also Polish so I know how you feel when waiting for Christmas. That's one of my favorites! I love mine with uszy (Ears. Which is what my family calls dumplings) filled with really anything!

well i'm from the UK so for us meat is the main part of all our chrismas dinners, we have things like: turkey, goose, duck, gammon, partridge (well at least i think so on that one, i've never had it so i'm not sure, i thing so) with lots of veg, gravy and mustard, then whatever's left over we have throughout the week till it's gone then for new years we get some more and the same thing happens it's a good meal and after we play with all the new things we get for example this year i got a new tablet now i can play minecraft as much as i want so i hope you had a good christmas and happy new year and that whatever the whether you keep warm oh and with recent event over here i do hope you don't have any floods

Well, we usually go to my grandparents' for Christmas, and my grandma is very Scandinavian (mostly Norwegian, Swedish), so Swedish meatballs, lefse, krumkake, glorified rice, all that yummy stuff... always on the menu. Don't forget the pickled herring!

Yeah I'm Catholic.
I used to live in England when I was a baby but I moved to the U.S.A.
For my Christmas dinner we usually have a turkey/ham with sweet potato casserole, some sort of veggie..... Cranberry sauce and all that stuff...
We have pie and cookies and stuff for desert.
In Virginia we don't get a ton of snow which is sad cause I love the snow!!!

basicly a cagage roll with extra mushroom. at our place we eat Borscht(beats poridge) Orlove, caviar, coulibiac and dressed herring. for desert we have Kissel, Lymonnyk and Pirog. we also drink Kvass, Medovhuka and sbiten. kids usualy prefer to eat borscht and drink sbiten and vuhka since its so sweet.
if we count the less traditional food at our table then we also serve. turkey, mashed potatoes and meet ball in gravy. our family is a big mix of canadian/ indo-european poeple. so russian food fits our all around tastes.

I live in Canada, so the winters here are very brutal and cold. But us Canadians can get through it.
Usually at Christmas we have a turkey or a meatloaf with all the family, and we all chip in to have a great big dinner with all these random foods. For treats we usually have Pumpkin pie and homemade themed Christmas decorated sugar cookies.

We don't really have one, but my father makes us Potjiekos and Afval (offal) on christmas eve. And for my mom, who can't eat red meat, he makes salmon, soaked in orange sauce and wrapped in foil over the coals. And there is always ALWAYS a side dish of either Miele meal or mashed potatoes with cooked onions and tomatoes.
I really like the afval. Mostly the sheep/cow tongue, lung, stomach and eye. The eye's taste and texture is kinda growing on me.
Potjiekos is like a mixed up stew in a broth cooked in a black pot with three legs over a fire. Long time to make, but it sure is yummy.
Afval is the organs of an animal, usually sheep or cow. This included the lung, brain, eyes, tongue... Basically any edible part of the animal is eaten. (Back when my mom could still eat red meat she hated this dish.)

Sounds delicious. My mom's side of the family has a wigilia celebration the weekend before christmas, 13 courses of various vegetables and fish including pierogi and pickled beets. I should suggest that kulebiak, that sounds delicious.
