Description What relief it is to finally get this here! I've never spent so long on a piece of art before.
Following the start of this piece was a long and arduous journey of improvement and patience. I took on the idea around December of the last year, after a few radical changes in my life started taking place, and I realized I wanted to get more serious about art, and being an artist, overall. It was to be finished by the end of January, but around the second week of February, something happened that made my life do a full 180°. Suddenly I was so occupied, my free time basically vanished. I don't wanna get into much detail here, for both the sake of privacy and well, I thought this piece deserved some effort on the description, more than me just rambling about my recent life.

So, what's going on in there, you ask.
Well, it came as a flash of inspiration. That noodle-derg you see in there is supposed to be as though a god, but incarnated. Some say that dragons could be thought of as gods in flesh incarnate. As useful or not as the idea is, I like it, at least. It really gives you something to feel in awe for, whenever you think of a dragon. By the way... no, it's not that dragon you're thinking about, even if I do see how it could have been inspired by that. This one could be said to be a creation of mine, even if sometimes it doesn't feel like he comes from me at all... as though he's one such entity himself trying to get a paw planted on the world through my piece. And well, the name I chose for the painting owes to that, being sorts of a tribute to this one dragon, trying to make himself known through my efforts, and bringing the prospect of 'real' art to my table in return. Thinking about it... my god, my pieces from just a year ago were absolute crap compared to this. So yeah, I'm mostly happy with the outcome.

It may have taken a long time but it was definitely well worth the effort.

Those thorns really caught my eye I really get a sense of dimension and depth with them. As almost as if they were 3D models added to the pic. As for the forest and mountains thats some Bob Ross quality art right there.

And don't even get me started on Mr.Noodledragon. You really do get a grasp of just how vast and mighty he is. A god incarnated but its like he's reaching for some sort of higher power. Or perhaps he's reaching out to the ethereal plain wishing to go back home.

Oh you! Haha thanks. I'm glad the vines and the noodle came out appropiately. In special the noodle. I was kinda afraid he'd look too small instead of looking like he's huge in the distance. I was told I needed to apply more atmospheric lighting but hm, it might've made his form look too attenuated into the background, which was obv bad bad bad with a piece with all this contrast and him as the center focus. As for the godliness, I like the idea of there always being something more powerful and grand than what you see. So yeah, you'd see some of that. Though this is more about his own power tbh.

I'm not sure how how to explain it but even though noodle is small

in the picture you still managed to portray his vastness, and since

he is the focus of the image the ability to both combine both small and large

really helps to make the whole piece.

It's most likely due to the environment and the lighting. I know I could've done a better job at it (had I studied atmospheric perspective some more), but I think I did well enough! And it's great to hear you think the same.

Thank you! I had fun working out the kinks and irregularities of the landscape.

Awesome work!

There is so much symbology here, it's tough to take it all in.
Words fail me for how beautiful the setting is and the glorious look of the sky, contrasting the dark land below.

This is your best piece yet, I think!

Wow this is extremely beautiful, it caught my eye! I love how you made the background!
Could I maybe feature it in an upcoming journal?

Impressive shading and attention to detail, no wonder it took so long! I really like how you took the time to challenge yourself to draw things differently. Such as different cloud formations (not mirrored), some left vine spikes that are facing towards the viewer opposed to all side/angled view. Really urges me to work on bigger pieces no matter how long it takes.

Haha, thanks so much. I do believe I've improved a lot with this piece alone, so even if it took so long, the challenge was worth it.
The clouds had to look different, since they take a huge part of the composition, and it would be immediately noticeable anyways, no? I gotta admit, I wasn't too sure about those forwards-facing spines. The nature of my painting made it such that they might look off if I left them like that, since the vines are supposed to not be too included in the landscape, but more as though surging from within the edges of the canvas itself, as though they are scrolling inside. But anyways. Yeah, I say, why not? I'm sure you can produce some very neat stuff if you were to work on something bigger.

Whoa, stunning piece. There's tons of stuff to like about this, the square composition, the framings, the extreme effort put into every little thing. The gem must have been an odyssey to paint in! I can see it's irregular in shape . . . colours are super well done.

Thank you so much. The gem was almost painful to paint, I gotta admit, haha. I used no references at all as a form of a challenge.
Almost three full months into my piece. I am so relieved to have it here once and for all.

Also, congrats on almost 40 faves. Will this become your most faved piece thus far? Three months sounds frustrating, but it's good to have a weight like that off your back.

Haha, thanks; on this account, yeah it might be! I have a piece in my old account with more, but it received disproportionate attention because of the simple fact that it's fanart. Sad, really, but hey, I'm not about to complain.
