From the Infamous H.P Lovecraft stories: Cthulhu.This is actually a Christmas gift to my beloved father whom is a fan of the novels.
Admittedly I overworked myself to get this one done often staying up till 2-4am when he was asleep to try and get it done. Art wise this was simple to draw but it ate my green and black paint alive. The actual image is on a 9 x 14 (roughly) paper and regrettably the scanner can't pick all the smaller details I put about the image. Nevertheless I had fun drawing and painting this while listening to my "An Even Scarier Solstice" CD by the HPLHS.
For those that don't know the CD "An Even Scarier Solstice" by HPLHS is a Christmas Album with many parodies on popular Christmas Classics so that CD and tons of Coffee helps create this image.

(Yep. My Dad loves the books and collects the movies and other items pertaining to the franchise when he can.
I've seen hats, clothing, food, furniture, decorations etc... all pertaining to Cthulhu.)

it's all in the mixing. You can get away with the most spectacular images from the most basic of colors. Most of the "fancy" colors and all these names you see on pallets and large paint sets are for show more then anything else. You can create anything from simply having : red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, brown, black, and white. everything else is simply shades or combinations
