Islam is the one and only thing that can unite people together. and how wonderful people are when they are united under one word: Islam. unfortunately, so many people have wrong understanding about what Islam is. and this is the reason of all hostility against muslims. hopefully someday, knowledge will win against ignorance. and Islam will show the truth to everyone.I had this idea when I was listening to one nasheed of Dawud Wharnsby Ali about Islam uniting all people.

in fact, there are different cases of apostasy in Islam. you need to be more specific.
if you mean the death penalty that so many anti-islamics talk about, that's only in limited cases where the apostates do things to harm muslims. to make things clear, I'd like to ask you what's the penalty of treason in your country?

Unites us all? But what about people who do not believe in gods? The Qu'ran says a lot of nasty things about people who do not believe or believe in "false gods"... So, according to Qu'ran itself is it unity by forcing those who do not believe in to faith, or to die if they won't?
I'm a proponent of peaceful coexistence, but the passages of spreading faith in many holy texts - the Qu'ran and the Bible being the most widespread - really make this a rather utopistic. Many books also forbid questioning the holy texts. So is a muslim, or a christian allowed not to spread their faith to people who simply are not religious? Like myself, becoming an agnostic wasn't a concious choice, I've just never felt the presence of any godhoods in my life even though the society tried to make me a Christian from early childhood.

first, this drawing is about islamic variety in nations and cultures. so it is not about believing in God or not (it doesn't include other religions/ that doesn't mean it disregard them. it's just about brotherhood and sisterhood of islam)
second, if someone doesn't believe in God, that's not the end of the world. no one is to be killed just because he doesn't believe. and if a muslim says that you have to be killed because you are kaafir (non-believer), then that person is absolutely wrong and doesn't understand Islam well. our duty is to explain Islam to you. believe or not, it's your choice and decision.
as for the Qur'anic verses that talk about the non-believers, some of them are related to the battles between the prophet of Islam and the Pagans of Mecca (and they are taken out of context by anti-muslims to prove that Islam is a religion of terror.) and some of them and misinterpreted/mistranslated for the same purpose.
if you really want to know the truth, see what a trustful islamic website/book talk about these verses before you judge.

Religion divides people. No matter if it's right, people will different opinions and beliefs as long as the world keeps on rotating.
