Description Thanks for checking out. Rather quick piece assembly-wise, only the planets took longer to make.

Three photos actually for the scenery part, the city was one, mountains other plus clouds from one. Plus the planets & stars created in photoshop, and then merged later on the actual scene.

This is a great concept, I love it. Like ~samjo989 said, a few details could be taken into consideration, but that's just constructive criticism and it's just meant to help you improve.

Funerium In reply to digitallica7 [2008-06-05 12:53:38 +0000 UTC]

Yep, itΒ΄s always good when people point out the flaws & are not too afraid to suggest improvements. Always helps with the future pieces. Nice to hear you liked.

That little planet in the top right looks like it has some interesting geography!

It's a lovely piece, but a few things caught my eye. For one thing, the juxtaposition of the night-time lighting of the city with the bright blue sky (at least near the horizon) and the sun-drenched cloud looks a little strange. Strange, and interesting. Maybe light works differently in the future!

The other thing is that the mountains in the background appear to be lit from the left, while the planet in the sky is lit from the right.

Don't mean to sound ungrateful though; this is a nice piece of work!

Funerium In reply to samjo989 [2008-06-05 12:52:39 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I spotted the messed up situation with the mountains later on, didnΒ΄t feel like going back to do any fixes though. The whole assembly was done as a quickie though, and not feeling like using too much time on it anymore. And the cloud does look odd also with the other light on the image, but that was pretty much intentional. It looked good enough, and with situations like that I often throw realism out the window and just go for it. The lighting of the whole thing was interesting all together, the city-shot had the magic-hour/dusk atmosphere, and that inspired the whole sky-part. Sort of surreal approach that ended up looking somewhat satisfactory, even though not too realistic.

Nice to hear you liked in any case, and thanks for the crits. IΒ΄m always glad when people point out the flaws, it always helps with future works.

Only three, if the planets donΒ΄t count. The city is one photo, the mountains one and the sky the final of the three. The planets use a lot more, but thatΒ΄s a whole different story. Nice to hear you liked.

You must have eaten something funny if you saw the planets. Never had the change to visit any larger cities myself, might be interesting to see some proper skyscrapers live some day. Would never live in places like it though, way too many people around.

This is great. I love the color of the street lights. From a distance it seems as though there are lava cracks forming on the surface. The blue contrasts with it wonderfully. You ROCK ........as usual.

Yep, the light of the original city-photo was the reason I wanted to work something with it in the first place. Cities photographed while the magic-hour look really cool.

Haha, the desert-piece would have been a decent city aswel. Should have crammed the structures of a few buildings into the dunes though.
