Description A lot of people have been asking me to make a book binding tutorial. Sorry its not very in depth. I learned by just messing around with it until I got it right, and it took about a year of screwed up books before I could make something of quality.

So here's basically what I do. And yes, step #2 if very important.

The two books that I made are available to buy in my Etsy shop - - - [link]

The step "SEW" was more helpful than one would think at first. I had been looking through tutorial after tutorial already feeling stupid because I just don't get the technic behind. Maybe I should start with just sewing them together

I mildly dislike being nosy, but I have an interest in what artists sell their creations for, and was wondering at what price roughly you sold these?

That aside, these are absolutely adorable.

Can I use gummy worms instead of fruit snacks? Ooo or maybe I could find some of those orange slice candy things with sugar on 'em. Would that work for step 2?

No but fer serious, this is awesome! Thank you!!!

First, I apologize for my really-bad-english (I'm chilean, so, I know english only thanks to the school classes, very basic) But while you can understand the general idea... I'm happy.
Well, first, let me say that I REALLY LOVE your work. The book are amazing.
Now, the point. You see, I want to give one book made by me to a friend in this christmas. I searched in the web and I learned how to make, to sew and all of that, but I can't found how make the cover... so... I want to know if can you explain me better... please...?

Isolated-hero [2008-10-31 02:58:55 +0000 UTC]

Okay I got the other stuff down pack, thank you. But now my question is on the hard covers. The tricky part that I dont understand about it is when making the spine curve, I know that you must cut it and make the edges fold before putting it on, but my spine is always straight, what am i doing wrong??

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

funkmaster-c In reply to Isolated-hero [2008-10-31 15:14:29 +0000 UTC]

You're not doing anything wrong. The book will have a straight spine when you sew it, and you can attach the cover to it like that if you'd like. Or you can kind of force it into a slight curve before you glue it. It just depends how you'd like it to look when its done.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Isolated-hero In reply to funkmaster-c [2008-12-21 04:19:57 +0000 UTC]

NinjaBunnii [2008-10-19 13:21:52 +0000 UTC]

Erm, I have the signatures and the cover finished, but I don't get how to sew them together.
Do I just thread it through each hole?
The picture confused me a bit because the signature is opened.

I also don't want to mess it up, because it's for a picture book, and they're already fully inked and coloured. ><

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

funkmaster-c In reply to NinjaBunnii [2008-10-20 14:46:06 +0000 UTC]

Yes, you thread down into the signature and then back up through the second hole. Then down through the next signature and up again. Just like you would sew fabric. Once all the signature are sewed together, gluing the spine will hold it nice and snug, and then you attach the cover.

Hope that helps

NinjaBunnii In reply to funkmaster-c [2008-10-20 22:58:35 +0000 UTC]

Thanks !!
That really is helpful...
but do you have to do something specific for the beginning?
So that as you're working, the thread stays?

Also, I have three sets of holes.
Do I sew the first of each together, then the second, then the third?
Or do I sew all three of the first signature, and then the second, and then the third?
