'Tis White Shadow
I'm in two minds about this piece. I really like what I've done with the colouring, particularly the hair. I've even done a background of sorts. The anatomy's not bad either. However, compared to the hair the rest of it looks kinda bland. She's wearing a worn-leather-like jacket so it should reflect less light, yet it doesn't look like it has the same light source. I think I can fix that though...just not right now. Too tired.
Do you think I should make the background more cloud-like or leave it as it is?

I love pictures arranged like this; half the persin in view. Plus the coloring you did to it helps a lot. The hair is UNBELIEVABLE and I love the outfit too.

Yea, the leather jacket does look a little warn, maybe you could make the light source brighter and then put some cracks into it? You know how leather cracks when its warn? Just a thought, dont kill me ;.;
But I love it none the less! I like her emotion and her hair is so awesome looking!

Well, I've been using Open Canvas alot lately, and I think that's helped me improve. Having a Wacom tablet is useful if you've got one, it's pressure senstive so it helps with digital painting.
Um, what else...I put all the base colours on one layer and the lighting and shade on different layers. Makes it easy to work with if you make mistakes, though I do the paintings on one layer.
Dunno how else to explain it really...look at the tutorials by ~ kheleksul and ~radicalstab

The only thing I'd say about the jacket is that it's a slightly different colour to the leather pants, so it's going to look slightly different in the light. I wouldn't say you'd got the light source wrong at all.
Otherwise, I think the hair adds interest to what would be a rather monotone picture (plus the green eyes).
I think making the clouds brighter in the background might also add a bit of contrast, but not too much or else you'll take the attention away from your character.
All in all, it's once again looking good Keiron.

I love this, I think the hair and the rest of the pic works well together. The darkness of the rest of the pic makes the hair stand out, but not too much that's it's overpowering, and the darkness creates a nice dark/mysterious mood ^^

I studied the jacket for a few moments, and I can't see what you mean, the light source looks just about like it's coming from the same place...
and I think the hair looks the oposite of bland... I think it looks quite vibrant and lively... maybe thats because I'm not used to seeing hair like that, so my expectation of what it should look like is a lot less, making what you see as bland look really good to me.
um... in general, i think it's a pretty picture, I'm

It's not the hair that's bland, far from it as you said. It's the jacket, it doesn't seem right to me. The light's coming from the same direction, but it doesn't seem to be the same colour as the light hitting the hair. I dunno, maybe it just me

oh, fair enough, I must head it wrong or something... yeah, I see what you mean with the colour of the light thats hitting the jacket, if you ask me, it still looks like worn-out leather... and because it's warn-out leather, would the light hitting it not change colour slightly? in that it would become softer light, and therefore lighter light?
anyways... just my thoughts... and I'm glad I could help, I still owe you so much though...
