Description I've been asked about what brushes I use when I paint. I really only use 2 brushes. Most of the time it's just one. I just found a few brushes that made marks
like the good ol filbert brush. Just like number 90 the best. I recommend playing with one brush for paintings so you can see what it can do. When you don't have 50 options I'm sure you'll come up with an interesting, usually more designed decision. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the heads up, I too have kinda ended up in that place. I also try to use 3 or 4 sizes, just out of some weird ocd type thing, never really did any real painting before but it make sense. Thanks alot again. Seriously, I want to compile you tutorials in a book for you. I am a graphic designer by profession, so it isn't too far outside my usual wheelhouse. Let me know what you think.

No I don't think it's a OCD thing at all lol.
When painting in school, I can recall pretty much everyone
had roughly 4 sizes of brushes. 8 brushes in total. 2 sets of
4 sizes. One for darks and one for lights.
I appreciate you putting the tutorials together.
I'm trying to get an art book out for anime expo.
Do you have any ideas on formats and such? It's gonna be roughly
32 - 36 pages

The way i figure it, it should probably be a live pdf. I mean printed books are great to have, and I am sure you could make it both, but if you put together a pdf in either Illustrator or indesign, you can include live links to artists and extended content. So, for an example, you are doing a bit about workspace in photoshop and you are talking about color pallettes and brushes, settings et al you can link a file or the location for more in depth information. I am thinking that most of your expertise is in digital works, while I am certain you are great at analog, there are already tons of schools and programs out there for analog arts, if we focus on digital, lets make it digital. I think a great way to start is to come up with a cover, and a list of subjects you think should be covered and in what order. You already have the hard part done (the drawing) now its just a matter of compiling. I would also suggest taking the captions off of the images themselves, and instead setting them in text blocks off the image with numbers corresponding to points, but that might be too much work. In any case, if you are interested this would be a fun project to work on, and as a bonus I would probably learn even more along the way I don't have alot of confidence in my abilities as an illustrator, but as a designer I am pretty solid. Maybe we could make this work.
