Description To commemorate the launch of the LHC at Cern, I've decided to make my duty get everyone in really happy space-type mood with some pics of my favorite phenomenons of our universe. I though I would start with the Horsehead Nebula. here's what Wikipedia has to say about it:

T"he Horsehead Nebula (also known as Barnard 33 in bright nebula IC 434) is a dark nebula in the Orion constellation. The nebula is located just below Alnitak, the star furthest left on Orion's Belt, and is part of the much larger Orion Molecular Cloud Complex. It is approximately 1500 light years from Earth. It is one of the most identifiable nebulae because it is so bright and hot in the sky. It is part of a swirling cloud of dark dust and gases, shaped like a horse's head. The shape was first noticed in 1888 by Williamina Fleming on photographic plate B2312 taken at the Harvard College Observatory.
he red glow originates from hydrogen gas predominantly behind the nebula, ionized by the nearby bright star Sigma Orionis. The darkness of the Horsehead is caused mostly by thick dust, although the lower part of the Horsehead's neck casts a shadow to the left. Streams of gas leaving the nebula are funneled by a strong magnetic field. Bright spots in the Horsehead Nebula's base are young stars just in the process of forming."

TBH, I didn't do anything! Lmao! It was an image I took off Google, cos I was obsessing over space and stuff back in January. I wish I did make that image, but no. The true artist is the cosmos itself.

This is amazing, it's so powerful, it kinda grabs you and makes you realize how big and wonderful the universe out there really is. There isn't enough words to describe the feeling it gives you when you finally come to that realization.

Yeah. You look at at it, you can't help but feel moved, and even a little emotional. So tranquil, so powerful, and we'll unfortunately never get to see it up close.
