This is awesome! Also, good work on Tigress' design - it's more accurate than other interpretations.

There is actually a species of tiger in China called the Southern China Tiger. And it explains on Wikipedia that's what specie's of tiger tigress is supposed to be.

In my head I consider Tigress to be Chinese, but she could have origins from south Asia like Cambodia or Southern China or Burma... since that's where some of the most concentrated habitats of tigers are (of course, that's nowadays, I don't know what the case was in ancient Asia).

Maybe greedy British colonizers caught her family and relocated them?

I suppose that would explain why she's an orphan... although I'm pretty sure the Kung Fu Panda movies takes place well before British colonization. But it's an interesting thought

Okay here it comes

1).A lot of the villagers in the Valley of Peace wear clothing reminiscent of the Qing Dynasty(1644-1911)

Cool
But I've heard that the universe Kung fu Panda takes place in isn't our world strictly, so it might not share the same real world occurrences that our history has. But maybe in the later movies we'll find out more about the world outside China/Mongolia and it's relationship to canon? That'd be cool

Where'd you hear that? I don't think it's official.

It's probably not. But I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't directly our world. But then again we could find in future movies historical events that directly correlate to our world. who knows!

Maybe it's set in the future after humans have gone extinct at their own hand? Just an interesting theory.
