Puck as a sea warlock! Because, yeah, even in the merman AU, the fae (children of Oberon?) must be transposed into a different species than humans.
Until now we have talked about Merfolk (Maregens sp.), now let's see...
Sea warlocks (Homoctopus veneficus) are a species of magical, sentient aquatic creatures found in marine waters of temperate and cold zones. They are immediately distinguishable from all other creatures due to their humanoid-shaped torso, with two arms equipped with hands, which contrasts with the lower part of the body that branches out into eight "tentacles" (more properly arms, even if without skeleton) which closely resemble those of cephalopods.
Although there is no phylogenetic proximity and the physiology is very different, some tend to merge merfolk and sea sorcerers; in reality, as anticipated, there is no relationship between the two species and it is impossible for the two to hybridise.
