Description

Above you can see a 3D model prepared for 3D printing. Whole model is cut in parts with pin-socket system, so after printing you can easier paint each part and then assemble them easily.

Some time ago, I had an opportunity to work on a ZBrush sculpt for 3D printing purposes. It shows an old, classic heavy diver with big metal helmet and rubber suit. It was really nice piece to work on. Not only when it comes to the sculpture, but also on technical parts. The model had to be cut in parts in order to make printing and painting easier. Each part has proper pin and the place where it fits has proper pin socket. This approach generates some interesting problems the artist has to solve before printing (for example, pin socket has to be a little bigger than pins as the glue takes some place as well).
I was responsible for the ZBrush model and preparing it for 3d printing. The print itself, assembling and painting of the finished figurine was made by modelsfordivers.com

This figurine (along with some others) can be bought on  www.modelsfordivers.com/both as a ready product and in self-assembly option (this one coming soon).
