Description Yes, it was taken in the middle of the day as a thunderstorm brewed over Melbourne, and the first rain began to fall out to sea.

I hate my long telephoto lens, though. It has gone very soft over the years (stupid cheap Sigma, but all I could afford at the time. Still a waste of money though).

I hate dA's back ground that kills colour, contrast and crispness, too.

Looks like a nasty thunderstorm, but all the same, the clouds are a beaitiful colour (don't fancy being up that tower though ).

Most of the storm hit out on the bay, but the clouds we get here in Melbourne are the best in the world, from wispy summer clouds against impossibly blue skies to angry storm clouds. Just fabo!

Beautiful shot. I love shots like these with the textures those angry clouds create. It's an interesting composition as well the way the tower, which is obviously quite tall, looks so very insignificant in the grand scheme of the image. I'm curious though what post processing you did to this if any?

CS3 RAW editor for recovery/clarity, saturation/hue, then into CS3 for contrast/sharpness, then into ACDSee Pro 2.5 for shadow/highlights, back to CS3 for a gradient and add watermark.

The tower is only about 25m tall. This was shot midday at St Kilda beach, on melbourne's Port Phillip bay with a thunderstorm rolling across the bay. I shot at -1 stop to darken down most of the scene at bid, but retain the highlights in the clouds.
