Description on tumblr requested Promontory and Marmalade Jalapeno Popette with bonus points for wild west elements. I liked how it turned out and decided to color it.

Needs more sleazy bar-room brawling in the background. And possibly a beer mug that you wouldn't find in a trendy Manehattan nightclub.

...how's that mug 'trendy'? It looks like... a beer tankard.

It's made entirely out of glass, and it's really geometric.

A beer mug is supposed to either be made of treated wood, or, if it's glass, be morel like a 20-sided cylinder. Like, have flat vertical panes around the outside.

If that makes sense.

What I essentially mean is that it should look like this [link] if it's wooden or like this [link] if it's glass.

So in your opinion, it's only a beer mug if it's "Really fucking ancient and made of wood" or a very particular style of glass.

I've seen dozens of types of mugs, tankards or glasses. They really don't need to be just one design.

Beer mugs can vary greatly in their design and construction. Not debating that.

If a piece is meant to evoke the Wild West, however, a beer mug should look like something you would find in a bar in the 1800s - namely, wooden or really thick, not-a-perfect-cylinder glass.

It's in the Wild West, just modern times. It's Appleloosa.

Yeah, I can see the validity of that. It's just . . . The way I see things, Appleloosa was meant to be a Wild West setting - it might have happened to occur in the same time as the show proper, but the setting was intended to evoke as much of a Wild West flavour as possible.

Hence, the old-timey beer mugs.

Thank you! They were pretty much left over from the lineart and I didn't want to do the hair all over again. Especially Marmalade's braid.

Newp. They were already on the wiki. I just picked them because of the theme of the WTG that week - technology in Equestria. I wrote a little story to explain why Promontory and the lads were pulling the train instead of driving it. It's here if you want to read:

I think I've read it before. Was it because of an engagement ring?
