Not a terrible image (though I knock off a few points for Jack and Rose on the bow.) Several historical inaccuracies, particularly with the lighting, and the fact that the aft-most funnel was used for ventilation, and therefore emitted only a light, airy steam much thinner than that produced by the forward three. And I already mentioned the figures on the bow, I guess it's presumptuous to call them Jack and Rose. No one was allowed on the forecastle deck, excluding crew (though even they weren't able to go as far forward as these two are). Other than that, the ship looks good, though she's a little underlit, the sky is amazing, and the water isn't too bad! Good image.

this picture was drawn 14 years ago. I was not going to pass a 100% authentic image. just my vision of this moment. not more . of course there are a lot of mistakes in the picture. but make a discount - 14 years ago. and it's my job. I will never download a thieving job.

...lovely pic.

Unfortunately though the fourth funnel was not connected to the boilers. Instead it was included just for balance and show so that it and it's sister ship, the Olympic, did not appear inferior to the rival Cunard liners Lusitania and Mauretania (which had four functioning funnels). It served as a vent for the turbine room and therefore issued no steam or smoke.

Fron funnel was a dummy for symmetry. Only three funnels belched smoke.

Very nicely made, This looks like it was made in a game or built and animated. Very great picture!

The ship itself in the picture was borrowed from another site. The smoke was obviously done on Windows Paint. You stole this image.

No they didn't. Ships of the Georgian era weren't the illuminated palaces of today

THE TITANIC WAS ACCUALLY BUILT IN THE EDWARDIAN ERA. JUST SO YOU KNOW

kafaraqgatri In reply to THEGREATTITANICCHICK [2006-09-18 15:57:15 +0000 UTC]

No, because the Titanic was built in 1911, the Edwardian era was 1901-1909

YOU GOT OWNED!

Uh, the construction of Titanic was from 1908-1911, not just 1911 *who builds a ship that large within a year*

I ALWAYS HEARD IT WAS IN THE EDWARDIAN ERA. EVERY DOCUMENTARY I'VE EVER WATCHED SAID THAT.

your both right. and no her funnels wern't lit.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Cleptrophese In reply to Railwolf [2018-07-06 08:29:21 +0000 UTC]

actually, while her funnels themselves weren't exactly "lit," as in having lights on them, they did have spotlights on the deck pointing up at the funnels to illuminate them and draw attention to their grandeur. What's the point of putting insanely tall, impressive funnels on a ship after all if you can't see them at night?

Only the first 3 funnels should have steam coming out. The fourth was a dummy funnel used for the kitchens!

get it right it was ventalation shaft for the engine room, come on people just because you watch a movie does not make you an expert on the ship. Try studying it for over 15 years, and then you can make an educated guess as to what thing on the Titanic were

Dude, look at when I posted the comment, and think about how old I'd have freaking been. I know a hell of a lot more about the ship now.
