Matsushima is in Miyagi Prefecture, Tohoku district. In 3.11 earthquake and tsunami, this area caught disaster. But many islands and gulf geographic features reduced the damage. But the hight of Tsunami became 120cm.

120cm--that's a really tall wave!  I am glad that at least some part of Tohoku was spared from the tsunami by the islands.

You're right; I looked up some pictures of that area around 3/11 and there wasn't much left in a lot of places.

At least, I will offer a one minute silent prayer at 14:46 to victims. Silens and broadcastings will announce it.
