I remember these funny little cars. I even drove one once. They really struggle to go uphill, but those days are gone, Thank God!!

Oh, I remember the gap between East and West Germany around in 1989. I used to feel that the socialism had returded technical progression.

Not to mention other progress. I spent time in the East Bloc in 1984 and some other years, and people were scared to speak, and the shops were all almost empty. What saved the day was all the political humour, which was brilliant!

Yes, I can imagine it. In fact, I visited communism museum of Prague in 2007. It was really shocking.

What was shocking about the communism? Excuse the question, but how old you are? I grew up in East Germany, was 18 years old at the time of the reunion and still live in the eastern part of Germanyl

Look at the globalizing world at this time, maybe over 60 percent of all people in the world today would be glad, if they could live, like we did 30 years ago in the communist east block. For example millions of people in africa starve an die, over three billion people worldwide have no clean drinking water, that's only two current SHOCKING THINGS!

There are so many positive things about the communism, you can not imagine, unless you have experienced them yourself. One of the reasons that brought communism to his end were serious western sanctions and isolation and the resulting low backflow of financial resources to finance - for example - the very expensive and good health system (vaccination for all, annual examinations of all adults and childrens - for free-), the very good education system (free childcare from the kindergarten - from the second year of life - to the primary school - from the seventh year of age - including post-school supervision) till to the university - all for free - and many other social-political themes. No one in the east block had to go hungry and die or has no clean drinking water!

All other things like arming military equipment were anyway a global theme of the cold war in the 70's and 80's - east block against west block and the respective propaganda of the other side!
