Mina just knew that her luck wouldn’t last after what had happened last weekend. She sighed as she threw three more antacids in her mouth and washed them down with some generic lemon-lime soda. She was practically snacking on them at this point and they still offered no relief. Her stomach didn’t really hurt. She just felt off... like she wasn’t herself. Her body was alternating between buzzing and tingling, along with several other sensations that she found hard to describe. Of course she would get sick on the weekend. She was starting to feel warm, so she got up to open the window.

One thing she hated about living in the city were all the buildings that made it impossible to see the moon and the stars. She leaned down and put her head next to the opening to feel the breeze as she made a note to start looking for apartments in the suburbs.

Suddenly, she felt dizzy. Losing her balance, she fell flat on her belly. She felt like she was going to throw up. The feeling passed just as she finally managed to scramble over to her garbage can.

It was getting hard to breathe.

She sat on her bed and tried to calm herself. If she got through this latest episode, she would go to the emergency room...

She wouldn’t get the chance.
