No, I took this last year when I was there.
Yeah, it's kind of hard at first because no one knows you're here. But if you comment on stuff, people will hopefully comment back. Another good way to get feedback/noticed is in the dev share forum. Take a look, there's usually something good in there.

You're not the first to think that about this shot.

Whohoo, this photo looks really awesome! The blue-white shape behind looks like Earth, and that makes the flowers look like a spacecraft! This is one of the most special flower photos I've ever seen :]

Thank you! It took me a little while to warm up to this shot. In fact, I'm still not totally in love with it. I don't know why either, which is kind of annoying me. But I'm glad that you enjoyed it! Thanks for the comments.

i love the dof on this picture. i have looked through your gallery and i think the way you photograph flowers has improved somewhat the composition has become more interesting in them .
although the colours are quite muted it works as a whole - great job .

I've been looking at this one for about a week now, and I finally decided that I had to have it in my favorites section. It doesn't have the "story" thing going for it that I usually need to see in order to like a plant/flower photo, but I just can't let go of it.
With the light/dark background cutting across the stems the way it does, and with the way they all open upwards and slant in the same direction, they just really look like the platforms of a space station in orbit around a planet. It's kind of like Aeon Flux, where all the technology seems to be organic-based.
I don't know. I mean, when you look at them, they can't be anything but flowers. But when you take in the whole thing at once, they're platforms in orbit again. It's weird. Or I am. Probably both.

Brilliant macro...and the contrast between the white flower and darker background is great.
