Amman's Suq Sukkar is bursting with delicious produce at this time of year! These guys posed for me and I took another photo of them (up close) that I gave them as a small token of thanks

I love it that you are shooting images of this culture. It will, no doubt, disappear... as our ethnics are in this country even.
I wish I had photos from when I was a child in the Southern USA... the curb market, the roadside bar-b-que stands that a black family would set up to raise a little bit of money.... many things like that I recall, slices of life.

yes, all of those things are wiped away, which is horrible. there are things from my childhood, too (i was born in 1970) that have disappeared from the central valley, like roadside produce sellers, fresh crab sellers during dungeness season in the bay, all kinds of things like that. that's exactly why i like to go to places like this and take photos. they are also so much more alive than somewhere like vons or kroger, aren't they?
this is not really on topic, but you mentioned BBQ--we're going to go out and try this place later today: [link] i figure any place that cooks brisket for over 3 days and ribs for a day HAS to be amazing

I've not been able to travel off the freeway as much as I love to here. That is where you see the little one of a kind places. Farmers still sell their produce along the road here and I often stop and buy wonderful home grown yummy veggies and fruit. I hope to do a trip to Alabama maybe next year and see if I can find the out of the way places to visit.

yeah, it's making me really hungry. i was out in the rain this evening with sx-70. sunshower. photographing the stalwarts of the garden. anyway, rose, timez-zero, a bit of wind to slightly blur the focus even after having focused. time-zero dreaming. i'll bet you were really happy to have that camera with you on such a special trip!
