This is part of my Coveted Wafuku Series, dedicated to the beautiful kimono that I want but shall never have.This is a showa period houmongi featuring spider chrysanthemums. I really love the way spider chrysanthemums are displayed on kimono, it's so lush and dramatic. It's one of my favorite motifs.

This is still my favorite depiction of spider chrysanthemums that I've seen so far, and the red, white, and black color combo really makes it so dramatic. It's beautiful

Thank you very much, but unfortunately this one is not mine. All of the pieces in the Coveted Wafuku collection are kimono that I want but do not have. They were all up for auction at some point in time, but either they were too expensive or I was outbid. I generally save the pictures for kimono I am especially impressed by, and I thought it was a shame these images just stayed on my computer when they could be used as reference material for all of the artists on DA

The pattern and the viberance of the colors is absolutely stunning. Simplicity matched with the intricacy of the lines compliment each other in this beautiful piece. Wonderful.

I think what makes it really stunning is just how simple the color palette is. It really highlights the petals and gives them even more impact. It's very well designed.
