Gasp, is this traditional art? In MY gallery? Impossible! So yeah, this was an art project, but I had so much fun doing it. It's a quetzal, my favorite kind of bird. It was done with pastels, the chalky kind. So smudgy. x_x I prefer oil pastels but it's not like I had a choice. The tree looks like crap, especially under the bird x_xAlso, I did this by gridding a refrence picture. I don't really like gridding so much, though I have to admit that it was sorta helpful.
The actual picture is 18 x 18 inches. You can download to see a bigger version, too.

I always hated gridding pictures in art class but it works well in this picture.Oil pastels are awesome but kinda pricey the more colors you want....I never used the chalky kind tho.

Thank you! I took an art class when I was 6 and we used oil pastels all the time, they were my favorite kind of art medium. The chalky kind is basically chalk but smoother.
