Description
Lollipop to the first person that figures out my reasoning for the name of the image
This is just a shot from a light test I did with one of my friends. He wanted a new Facebook profile shot, I needed to get back in the saddle in preparation for a BIG shoot coming this weekend.
This was the result.
Two Canon Speedlite 580EX II flashes on 1/16th power inside 1.8m x 30cm strip-boxes with grids on behind him and a 48cm Ring Light (65W) as main light.

Okay, no homo, this is a beautifully executed shot. The lighting from the side coupled with the sharpness in your eyes is subtlety dynamic. It has that "I'm sexy and I know it" vibe haha. A little somethings missing though. I don't know if you edited it, to me, the dark background doesn't bode well with the darkness in your clothing. The light draws you in, the green eyes slam you right in place then it just fades into this void of nothingness. If you had captured some texture in your cloak, I believe this would've brought this photograph to a close. I'm left hungry, cut by the dagger, then their's nothing else to feed on. All in all one damn good photo.

Thanks for the feedback. Apart from the "no homo" bit, which I'm still trying to figure out, especially since I am one of said "homos" and I am also not the model, but the photographer.
I think it might be a screen calibration issue, 'cos I didn't see pure blacks on my screen when I look at it and the model is separated from the lighter background, but it's entirely possible, considering the vast differences in screens. It's always such a mission to get images to display right on everyone's monitors.

He looks kind of smug. He looks more like a model portraying a badass rather than a badass himself. Like he's about to smile.
Other than that, it's a really nice piece. He's very handsome and the portrait is certainly very flattering.

The intention of the shot was not for him to look like a bad-ass, it was intended to be a portrait of him - a guy who's a mix of a bit of a bad-ass (he used to be a cage fighter) and a clown with a hell of a sense of humor.
So if that's what you picked up from the shot, I succeeded in what I set out to do. It was never my or his intention to take a photo of a bad-ass, so I'm not sure why you mentioned that?

Hmmm, trivia day eh? lol Well let me see if I can take a stab at this. Cloak, because he's wearing one? Daggers....dagger tattoos or because he's staring at you with daggers in his eyes. Not very good at these games. haha. Anyway...Nice lighting and great intensity in his expression.
