Personifies: San Fransokyo (the city in Disney's Big Hero 6)

Art Talk
With the power of refs, I shaded a few wrinkles into her clothing. I think that's a neat improvement. I'm not 100% satisfied with her hair; it's still a bit too flat, but I'll work on it. Possibly this is a change from the stiff busts I typically do. The background is a parody of some official Hetalia art I found on the web.

Tomoko is a redesign of my first APH OC, Rei (San Fransokyo). Rei was a 2D Mary Sue with too many friends in faraway places and not enough personality. Thus, Tomoko, the new San Fransokyo FC, is designed to be less overpowered. I'll probably keep Rei as a design, but not as a FC. San Fransokyo is heavily San Francisco, but has a Japanese flair I wanted to embody in the design.

Design Changes
Originally, Rei was 12-13, with pigtails and a blouse with ribbons in her hair and a bow at her neck. She wore a skirt. Her hair had many blue streaks. I kept the blouse but added a cardigan and some pants instead of a skirt. Typical San Francisco style is less formal than Rei's design. Also, her hair has switched to the much more manageable and popular bob with a single streak. Tomoko's hair is much simpler, but retains the bit of eccentricity that I wanted to have for the sake of representing San Fransokyo's superheros. I kept a smaller ribbon there as an homage to the "Japanese schoolgirl" type clothing that I had used before, to further push the Tokyo aspect of the city.
Generally, it will be much more fun and easier to draw Tomoko than Rei, who I never drew in color, if at all.

Personality/Traits Changes
Tomoko is 14-15, rather than 12-13. The city's not terribly new or old (Disney canon puts its creation as sometime after the 1908 earthquake), so I didn't want a childish character or an adult, but rather a character embodying the fast-paced tech advancements we see in Big Hero 6. Thus, I put Tomoko at an age at which someone is up-to-date with new tech, but also young enough to anticipate and be able to enjoy even more advanced developments.
Rei was a flat "nice Japanese girl" character. I want Tomoko to retain the respectfulness of a Japanese person, but also the attitude of an American, so I will tailor her to have a less conservative personality than before. Also, as the hills are twice as tall in San Fransokyo as in San Francisco, she'll be a bit sportier, haha. Maybe I'll give her a skateboard.
I chose the name Tomoko because it was popular in Japan during the 1960s-70s, which fits the average age in San Francisco (38.5, apparently) but isn't too old-timey sounding or common. It's beginning to be more popular in Japan to have a "kira-kira" name, so I decided to use two character combinations for her name to fit both the traditional characters and the "kira-kira" trend of using same-sounding but different-meaning characters.
Tomoko's nickname comes from the character Tomoe in the comic series Usagi Yojimbo, published by the west coast publisher Dark Horse Comics. Tomoe is a feudal-Japan-era high-ranked but compassionate character with good development over time. She's a good role model for Tomoko, but I didn't want to make it a common alias.
I'm pretty content with what I've done so far, but of course I'll have to rework her interactions with canon characters. Rei was too overpowered of an Ameripan love child-type character.
