Ah! I'm so sorry: after all these years, I never realized I accidentally copy-pasted misinformation: This wasn't an "on the spot sketch": it's not even a sketch. The concept may have been executed on the spot (with no preliminary sketches), and I drew it in one-sitting I think, but it was not quick.

I never did a colored version. I gave permission for someone to color once, it wasn't professionally done though. But I only gave permission that one time I think.

I'm pretty much planning the same but here in good old germany (an especially in my town) it's not that easy to find guys to teach you.
Particularly as a girl.
Sad to admit though...but I'm not giving up on that.

Yes, I suppose I can be called a tattooist at this point, but I personally don't consider myself a tattoo artist just yet. My experience is past the 50th mark, but my portfolio doesn't come close to what I want it to reflect.
I'd say, start teaching yourself. It's good to have someone with experience to give you advice, so even if you are looking for a mentor, begin teaching yourself at the same time: Research, study, etc.
I'm female as well, so I understand how being a woman can make things a bit harder. I don't like thinking of things that way, since basically my whole career and it's various interest are all male dominating fields, but it is an unfortunate truth in many ways. We just have to work twice, three times as hard! Which isn't such a bad thing, I'd say.
Good luck, and be careful with who you trust. I look forward to seeing your tattoo journey progress.

Ha. Agreed with all the above on the detail, it really is astounding. This is great on its own, I can only imagine what the color would do for it. I love the guy's face, even if it's one of the more simple points. It just seems to have a strong emotion, even though his mouth is covered. And...the fish just made me giggle. I dunno how leashes would hold them, but it's funny. XP
