Hmm, It doesn't really happen for me... I've taken the habit of always finding a place for a new character as soon as he's created, because I'm trying to make all my stories fit in the same storyline and new characters imply thinking on how they would fit to avoid any possible plot hole

Sometimes others voulnteer as tribute,
They then both get sacrificed to the burger god,
And I eat happy.
