Listening to 'Halfway Till Bliss' by Atlas Plug from the album '2 Days or Die.' Gave him a bit of an attitude as a result.

Once again, you have great mastery of spotting blacks to convey mood and tone. I still can't figure out the whole light and shade bit...... but right now I am trying to learn as much about anatomy as I can between schoolwork, and doodling here and there as much as I can.....

Do you know of any good how-to books that explain different kinds of lighting well?

Once you've got your anatomy and lines down, you'll get the shading down no problem.

I don't know of any references on the subject of spotting blacks but you can study shading in Jim Lee's work and Oliver Coipel's...among many others.
