It really is! I really love that about it. The storyline is so beautiful, captivating and immersive. It creates such a profound sense of mystery and you can shape the whole thing through your actions. Having trouble getting the PC version to work, will have to see if I can get the PS2 version up and running on my new computer I'm getting in a couple weeks. I think I've done the Leave and In Water endings only, I was doing some research on them. Definitely gonna do a Maria ending run next time. Should be fun, I never got to see that play out. Again, you are great at pulling off Maria

Thank you! Odd about the PC version, I think you get the best graphics on it with the right settings. I know that's true of 4. I played it on the PC once and was just like :0 because it was even cleaner. Now I have a hankering to play 4...and 2...can never play them enough! I usually get In Water. I have my thoughts about it being cannon, I mean I guess most of the fanbase agrees, but I truly think it is the only ending that makes sense if James actually comes to terms with what happened.

Yeah I actually got the PC version working, thats why I didn't respond to your comments yesterday, I was too immersed heh. Just got in the historical society. I've tried to replay it like 4 times and I always get to this part and get bored so I'm really excited to get past here. I don't really remember much except what happens with the Mary thing mostly. I agree with you about In Water seeming like canon. It really did feel like canon from how everything turned out. I haven't seen Maria or Rebirth yet though but I will soon. I actually played 4 on PC too! It's the only one I've played on PC previously and I remember it looking really good, thats cool we both did. Hehe and we're totally inspiring each other to play the games haha. I'm gonna give 3 a shot after 2 and hopefully continue on with 4 and Origins

Yayyyy! Go you, that's quite a power run! I can ususally not exceed two or three hours. It's crazy but it gets physically oppressive somehow, or maybe mentally. I play on a projector screen at night so that may be why, but man, it gets to me! 2 gets so weird after the Historical Society! That's when it all comes unhinged I think, or at least James does.
idk about you but the Patients in 4 scare the living heck out of me. Burping and all, not that this noise is scary but they're just so big and odd.

Thanks! I ended up playing 2 all day, then 3 all day for several days and then 4 all day... just got completely schlorped up hehe. I totally get what you mean though! I was like that before but I dunno, none of it was really getting under my skin at all this time. I was playing on a 42" HDTV in the dark the whole time too *shrug*. But yeah the games are designed to feel that way, thats what makes them sooo gooooooood. Most horror games try to startle you and have stuff jump out at you or be really grotesque or something, but silent hill just puts you in these really creepy situations.. like being alone in a dark hospital.... that starts to go crazy. Or wandering through a dark sewer or something. Just the reality of the situation you scare yourself putting yourself in the shoes. Yeah it really did get pretty unhinged after that part! That's where you start to learn about the prison and pyramid head... and start to learn more about the truth... and that part with Eddie.
Ohhhh haven't got to them yet... I'll keep my eye out! Anything from 3 that really scares you? Twin Victims from 4 kinda bother me a little

Did ya ever end up seeing the Patients? They do burp, which is kind of hilarious, but stillllll...creepy! The Twin Victims are great for scares. I love how they just point and then charge. It makes it so they can be across the room from you and you don't even know it right away. That happens in the water prison level for sure, also in the apartment level. Then again, when you play 4 as much as I have it's pretty easy to remember where they all spawn. But even I do get scared by the occasional creature If forget was placed somewhere.

Yeah totally! Everyone was always comparing the first 2 games to Resident Evil and I played RE 1-3 and it was like, bitch please it's got like 2 or 3 jump scares per game that aren't even all that bad. Yeah I totally agree

No head hanging! 4 is kind of a bear to play, mostly because the levels repeat. And the ghosts. And Walter. And Eileen's amazing (but SLOW) ass.
Also the room literally becomes stifling so it can just feel exhausting to get through. So it is definitely a trip to play it! I will sometimes take long breaks.
Ohhhh between 2 and 3...such a tough call. For me, 3 is more atmospheric in the stereotypical way people think of the series. But 2...2 really made the series what it was and I see 3 as following it up with tweaks. They're both so different...plot wise, to me at least, I feel there's truly no contest there because 2 gives you so much to think about. But 3 has its own subtleties about the difficulty of the transition from child to adult...so IDK. I wasn't ever huge on the SH religion/cult aspect to be honest. I know a lot about the series but a lot of those details are definitely lost on me. What about you, which do you think was more influential/better, 2 or 3?

Yeah I know what you mean, it was "getting to me" more than the others for sure. There was one part where I was playing and my roommate started talking to me about something and I just left the game running and I was in the room looking at the window and a disembodied head floated... up and it was the first one I had seen this playthrough so both of us just kinda stopped talking and were like "uhhhhhhh?". I went to the window to look around for more and nope just the one haha, was a great mindfuck

Yeah. I used it a bit in high school for photography class, but we never did anything with it other than raising brightness and adjusting saturation here and there. If you'd like, I could try and send you the psd file so that you can look around at it.
