Description These clunky slip ins were the result of Amelia's hard work and crazy vision. She wanted to get them as big and ridiculous as Kairis...and I think she pulled it off! Bases by her, finished by me.

TY!
It went a little something like this (copy pasta from my response to another who asked):

She started with some canvas slip ins (sorta like keds, got them from walmart) and then glued batting stuffing in that clown shoe shape at the tip of them. She then made the cover out of neoprene and made a seam down the center of that...On one shoe she made the shape of Kairi's purple pattern out of model magic, and then I took over. I copied her model magic onto the other shoe and then covered both shoes in the fabric (this was hard because if you pressed too much the model magic would break off). Next I hand sewed the two black dashed seams into the shoe which was also difficult because the shoe was already put together. I poked two holes in each shoe to insert the yellow rope and eyelets (the ends had to be hotglued after so they wouldn't fray). Before inserting the other end of the rope into the shoe I added the black stopper on each. I added a white strip on the back of each shoe out of craft foam, and finally I hand sewed the trim around the shoe opening (it was stuffed to give it a round shape).

<# I just admire people who would go through so much trouble even for minor details!

Thanks! (And thanks on behalf of my friend whose vision these were as well hehe). My friend created these with the purpose of making my feet look as big and crazy as possible. She shaped them like clown shoes and did the shape for the colored part, and then I finished where she left off. Thanks to her skill and my sincere attempt at accuracy these shoes were born xD Glad you like the end result!

Amelia's a genius. I never understood why the characters were designed with such freakishly-large clown shoes in Kingdom Hearts!XD Hm, if anything at all, I guess it was based on a Walt Disney style of character design, that's my best guess.

Isn't she?!

I think you're right on about why their feet are so big. Tetsuya Nomura (I think he did the designs???) loveees to slap on big feet, lots of pointless zippers, random hoods and big bags onto his characters. They look pretty neat in the end, but you gotta wonder where he got these crazy ideas from haha!!!

Yeah, I noticed all the zippers, hood, and bags he puts on his character designs too!O.o Personally, I think they go back and forth between looking cool and just downright silly!XD

SAME HERE!!! I will always love Kairi's zippered outfit, but on Sora and Riku sometimes I just laugh at the ridic pockets, zippers and hood combo they have XD

Yeah, I know right?! Do they really need all those damn zippers, and how come they never use those hoods! X3

Thanks! Yeah I know Amelia spent a LOT of time making them, and I spent a few hours finishing them up...it is amazing how much detail work I had to do just putting the purple on the shoes, and on one of them I wasn't as careful and it really shows!

I was wondering about those. They look enormous, and possibly uncomfortable. Are you saying there's a reasonably-sized shoe under all that?

No, no! They are big! When Amelia made the bases she stuffed the toe area (so they are squishy ! ) One of the shoes is smaller around the foot opening than the other for whatever reason, so that one is painful, not to mention the yellow cording is pushing through (I had to hot glue it to keep it from fraying) so that is a very hard, scratchy object digging into my foot in the smaller shoe. The other one is perfectly comfortable though, so no idea what happened!

LOL, well considering how the rest of it was comfy, this costume isn't bad. I tend to make things look nice, but they are pretty poorly constructed, or made in unconventional ways. My Eileen dress was very painful to wear thanks to the neck being pulled super taught...I had red lines on my neck fah dayz :<

In general I care more about how something looks on me rather than how comfy it is, but I need to just start improving how I actually make things, then I don't have to sacrifice quality or comfort hehe!

I'll say. There's no reason you can't have it all ^_^

And if it's any consolation, your stuff does look dynamite.
