For anyone who finds drawing progress pictures interesting.
I thought I'd post this, because so often I want to give up on drawings when they are stuck in the phase like you see in the first picture. I want to give up too quickly and just throw the drawing away and start a new one! But lately I've had to remind myself, often portraits need to go through "the ugly door", as my art teachers have said, before they get better. So just as encouragement to anyone else like myself who sometimes struggles with the urge to quit!

I always get a bit dispirited half way through a drawing, when I wonder whether I will ever make a decent drawing out of what is on the paper.Β I thought that this was just me and am glad to hear that I am not alone.Β So far I have always persevered to the end, apart from with one very early drawing about 5 years ago, soon after I started drawing.

I've just started trying to draw realistic drawings earlier this year and I've found it tough to start a drawing, so it's really helpful for to see how others approach it!

I'm currently making one with Pastels, and I'm with the same thoughts even though the technique is going well (it's my very first drawing with pastels and I'm afraid of mistakes)

I find this very cool.Β Less because of seeing how its done in general, but more because we see your process and see who any of us might go through it differently.
