.........*buries face in hands* I should never have told Hannah about this...I don't even know why I'm uploading it. I guess it's because...well she put a lot of work into humiliating me and...by golly I guess that counts for something.
So, ready to hear an embarrassing story about my childhood?
When I was a little kid, I was part of a little drama club and we were doing "Sleeping Beauty." I was just going to play a minor role, and I felt kind of bad because I had hoped to get a lead role!

Anyway, so we're all getting ready for dress rehearsal when the girl who was to play Aurora was sick or something. We needed someone else, but none of the girls knew her lines well enough to play her. But...guess who had been memorizing the play backwards and forwards. They asked me to do it. I was not happy about it, but we had no choice. We had to do it or cancel a month of hard work.
You might be thinking "there's no way that you could have played her. You're too manly and stuff!" Today, that's true...but at the time I was much younger, much smaller, and I had a very high and girlish voice. I could fit into her dress...wear her tiara...walk in those damned high heels (seriously girls...how do you do that!?), and put on a good show.
Before you ask, NO I DID NOT KISS ANYONE. The drama teacher was kind enough not to make that a part of the freaking performance. But...I did have to go out like that and...yeah.
Now in this picture, Hannah has drawn me without the wig and has drawn herself as the prince. I don't know why she felt the need to embarrass me like this but...when she aims to humiliate, she doesn't hold back.
Anyway, hope you all like it and...yeah.

I should have been. However, the role was a big one and I was one of the only people who had been memorizing the entire play. Since I could fit in the dress, recite the lines in a girls voice, and wear a wig...well...they asked me to do it.

Hey, don't be ashamed. Back in the days of Shakespeare, women weren't allowed to act. The first Juliet? Played by a grown man. The first Lady Macbeth? A man. First Hamlet's Mother? Man. You are far from the first male to play a female, and you certainly won't be the last.

Yes, I know that women can be played by men...and they did in the past as well. It was still just...embarrassing. It wasn't supposed to be the role I played and I wasn't really excited about that.

In Shakespearean times, men played all the roles in the theater; including the female roles. This practice is nothing new and it only proves that you were a good actor and a good sport as a child. We all have embarrassing tales to tell. My avatar is one of mine; yes, that is me. If you want to know the story, note me and I'll explain.

You're right. Thank you for that. I did it, and while it was not a fun experience or one that I would like to revisit, it was an interesting one to say the least. On the plus side, I did end up getting a lead role I guess...although half of it was spent "asleep." I guess it could have been worse. But I'm not clamoring to play any other female roles any time soon.
And yes, I am a bit curious about that image.

It takes a real man to play a girl. Dude, you had courage to go on stage in a dress, now I don't know if you were bullied for that, but how does someone bully another who has more courage than them? Cause no (most) bully would be that tough.

Well fortunately for me, I didn't have to do this in front of the entire school...not even my parents. It was just in front of all the other drama classes. They kind of understood my situation...but I did receive some jokes and insults about it. I didn't have much choice...I had to do it.

The only other option was to say no and cancel the play that we'd spent a whole month working on, thus putting months of hard work and practice down the drain simply because I was too selfish to want to sacrifice my dignity. The choice was obvious from the beginning for me.
