You thought you could just stop the player's progress by taking over Grovyle? HA, you fool! Don't you know that just like Groyvle, you are bound to the script and thus must do the heel-face turn? Muhahahahahahaha-ha....
On the flip end though, it would have been interesting if he DID get as far as to get in Grovyle's mind, resulting in a boss fight in our ol' time traveling hero's mental world!... I'm thinking about the Mother series again, aren't I?

Apparently, Grovyle isn't the only person whom the script can screw over. XD
And I'm sure a boss fight inside a person's head is a concept that is indeed a thing, in various games and, uh...other things.

Oh trust me, the Mother series is semi-big on it. Using the fan-game, Cognitive Dissonance (Again) as a example, the final boss takes place in the villain's own mind. In a way, however... it makes sense, as he is, technically speaking, at war with himself now... I won't spoil too much, but if you gain interest, I encourage you to play it to the very end, so you can see what I mean.
