There's a lot of stuff in the second panel in particular that I took from my real life experiences in elementary school. Like how nearly everyone else went for the chocolate milk while I was one of the few people who went for the normal stuff because school chocolate milk always tasted a bit off to me. Also, lunch cards. I didn't realize it then, but it's actually kind of an ingenious way to minimize the incidents of bullies beating you down for lunch money and whatnot if the funds are always on a card that is kept at the lunch line at all times. Now, as to preventing any mean classmates who would try to grab your card and pretend it's their's anyway...well, there was a way around that, but that wasn't until middle school for me. It was called "Memorize your own account number and type it in at the pad at the end." And if someone tries to get your number out of you...well, by that point, it's getting a little ridiculous. XD
