Description A tiny dictionary of words in the Naika Kakrioasik and Tashel language, as are used in the stories.  * is used to represent an apostrophe



Allusan: tradition


Borainet: a old spear-type weapon with a blade at one end and a sharp spearhead point at the other

Cheri: silver (as in a silver mist color)

Detka: come; return


Domkar: lacking in intelligence; stupid


Dorat: dance


Elora: the doctors of the people; or as a literal meaning is *healers*.  Apprentice healers were trained to take the place of the older ones.

En (fem= ena): one, as in a person

Es: of

Eretha: stars, or literally a field of stars

Fekriasen: a mother dragon (literal meaning; mother winged one)

Her: mist

Hydrolin Vitka: a type of scaled water lizard that is usually peaceful, but can bite hard when really angered.


Jelor: to join, pretty much in any way


Jeloran: The Joining; or the blood covenant made at a marriage ceremony.  (N)  Join-mate, join-partner (v)

Ka: people

Kai: wise

Kakrel: city (literal translation= place of people)


Kakriasen: the actual name of the huge creatures English calls dragons; (literal meaning; great winged one)

Kakrioasik: the brave riders of the kakriasen who risk their lives for the protection of their people.  Many are known to have the mysterious jewel powers.

K*ento: much too, too much


Korrosik: the ceremony in which an apprentice dragonrider is officially accepted as part of the Kakrioasik

Maeri: woman

Nai: strong

Fen: a unique pear-like tangy fruit (usually gold in color) that abounds in the Naikan world.  (Lit= fruit)

Naika: strong people; one who fights with honor; the people in the dragonriding culture.

Say: noble (ending being *noble one*; depending on masculine or feminine gender as shown below)

Sayen: the son of the Naikan leader, the prince to whom all is passed on.


Sayena: the daughter of a Naikan leader; princess


Say-kir: the leader or chief leader of a Naikan settlement who makes all the important decisions determining the entire local Naikan community

Tashel: the second group of people in the culture; the ones who are not the kakrioasik

Te: under (older version is *Ke*)

Tenar: apprentice; one who is learning something under a master.  (Example: Alyssa was a tenar Elora.)
