Now after so many years together, the annoying thing has gained a will of its own. Working as Cocom's voice of reason and life long companion. Balam takes on the form of a jaguar, often semi corporal and curled around his other half. Cocom is the body, Balam the soul.

Others touching Balam is a strange sensation, dulled like an itch you can't quite scratch. He quite likes the attention however, soaking up all the pet calls. Injuries to Balam cut Cocom right to the core, cutting him up in places no one can see and the damage takes a long, long time to heal.

Other FormHis other gift is the ability to change his own form to match Balam. At will he can become a large jaguar, with the intelligence of man but the strength and agility of the beast. There is also an in between form, rarely seen as its something not quite right. Both the parts of man and animal .

Life He doesn't consider himself one, but by English translation he is considered a witch. Cocom has never thought too hard on it but he just seems to keep living. He can be hurt, and he can certainly be killed but other wise seems to keep going. He seems to still age, just at a much slower rate.

A very simple man, he says whats on his mind and has no fear of repercussion. He plays to the beat of his own drums and will never change himself for another. He is no animal to be tamed or beast that can be pet. He prefers action over words, quick to throw a punch when pushed and even faster to bite an unwanted hand. He is Cocom, and the only person he needs is himself ( Balam ) and no one else. He caters between two mindsets, self reliant but reliant on himself. He is Balam but Balam has also become something more. Cocom is not sure what he'd do without his feline companion, their wise words the only thing that can stop his rage.

They are logic to his emotion, the one who says to stop and think before acting and has a better understanding of others. Balam knows fear and kindness, they know trust but also to keep things quiet. They are everything Cocom is even if he sometimes doesn't know these parts of himself. Together they are a whole being, never to be> even in death

HISTORY

He's had many names over the years, he can't even remember what was the first anymore... Not that it really matters, Cocom suits him just fine.

Memories of roaming through the jungle, wild and free. The restraints of society far behind, those people worshiped their gods and shunned him until it was convenient. There was a woman, some poor sacrificed sent to appease him and keep him away from their other women. He was kind to her, let her stay at his home and he brought her food. It was a good life for a while, he grew to like her, maybe even loved her and they were married in the eyes of the gods. Good things don't last forever however and like everyone else she eventually passed on.

He remembers when he finally left for good, of going past the line of trees and never returning because he didn't need them, or anyone but himself. As long as he had Balam, he wasn't alone.

Life is a short fickle thing, hes seen men and woman stronger than him turn to dust before his eyes. Hes spent a long, long time in the jungles, away from mankind and living as one with nature. He was the beast they once called him but it was a fulfilling life. He and Balam as one. He stopped keeping track of time and would sometimes visit the villages to see how things had changed. Much had changed, a new language was being spoken and his people had changed. New colors and inventions and the men. The men never changed, still the same judging eyes that he didn't take kindly too. Red became the new color. Burning fires and blood splattered.

There was a few times he thought he'd die but somehow he kept going, the mercy of others saving him time and time again. Seeing all the shiny metals and fancy jewels reminded him of a talent long lost. He used to make those things, simple ornaments of gold. He started to reintegrate into society, to relearn metal smithing and use his once red hands to create once again. People had changed, no longer believed in things like him. He was able to be accepted and it was a nice feeling. Cocom was able to make a small profit and live a simple life, with his own home and selling his wares at the market. Balam had to stay hidden, a creature in the shadows who never strayed too far from his master and equal. He started to travel, wearing the modern garments in order to be taken seriously and while they left a sour taste in his mouth one had to adapt.

Eventually he found himself in Gravesend City, rather surprised to see so many different creatures in one place. Hes always been the only one, while not unfamiliar with monsters none had ever been so, human looking.
