I mean, they did meet him. And Stark did promise Phinny an internship at Stark industries...
WAIT! I GOT IT! They found out about Stark in the least sensitive way possible when a lawyer- who sincerely thought they already knew -informs them that Stark left Phineas and Ferb a small portion of his wealth and company under the new name "Pherb-Inc." (pretending that was the name of the "single kid" in the paperwork because he can be a troll, with the specific clause that if it turns out to be two kids, they'd still get the promised inheritance along with a note telling them to get easier names to remember) after keeping tabs on them for the years after the snap.Β Β

Obviously, but that didn't stop fans from shipping Ferbella, and even stating that Ferbella should've been the end canon ship given that Ferb is more aware and a romantic himself.
But let me ask them this: could he have given Isabella what she NEEDED as opposed to what she WANTED?
π: 0 β©: 1
aalberts36 In reply to Galaxina-the-Magi [2019-06-28 21:11:52 +0000 UTC]
Isabella wanted Phineas, there is no debating that.Β What she needed, that I honestly don't know.
π: 0 β©: 1
Galaxina-the-Magi In reply to aalberts36 [2019-06-28 22:21:12 +0000 UTC]
No, no, I'm not saying WHO she wanted. I'm saying WHAT. Obviously, she wanted Phineas, that's the who, but WHAT she wanted was a romance by the book: she wanted Phineas' attention while they were in Paris even while they were on a deadline, she wanted to recreate the Cinderella slipper scene with Phineas while he was busy making sure the party he and Ferb were helping Vanessa host was going swimmingly, she wanted Phineas to admit she was cute even though he was focusing on finding his lost friend, etc. But every time she tries to initiate these regular, cliched romantic gestures, usually at the worst possible time, mind you (I'm not complaining, I love those scenes and attempts, but I'm just saying), either her efforts are undermined, or it causes PHINEAS to initiate an unexpected romantic gesture of his own:
When Isabella decides to help boost Phineas' confidence instead of watching the sunset with him, he embraces her in a way that he's NEVER done anyone else. Candace and Ferb are the only other two people who come to mind that he's ever hugged in the show - that means he cherishes Isabella to a high degree.
When Isabella ran out of shoes in "Drusselstienoween", Phineas took his off and proceeded to dance with her barefoot.
Phineas once described love and romance as a science, and then described Isabella's cuteness as "scientific fact"; even Isabella seemed to miss that Phineas views romance differently from her, and this might've been a hint of him basically saying he found her to be MORE than cute.
Many of the romantic gestures that succeed in Phinabella are initiated BY PHINEAS, not Isabella. And that's what I believe she needed: subversion. She needed someone who, though doesn't necessarily break rules, doesn't inevitably follow them either. Isabella is a girl scout - she's a rule follower, and she's by the book. To a lesser extent, she suffers similar struggles that Phineas and Ferb do when they can't build something for a day, and even with Baljeet when it comes to things not going as she planned. Phineas spends every day of his Summer defying rules and expectations in order to make everyday worth living. Ferb is part of that, yes, but Phineas is in a unique position. Yes, Ferb is the romantic of the two - he knows what a girl wants. He is a ladies' man, through and through. Yet that fact combined with the fact that Phineas is totally unaware of Isabella's affections makes Phineas' gestures more meaningful.

OK, that's what she wants, but what does she need, and could Ferb have provided that?
π: 0 β©: 1
Galaxina-the-Magi In reply to aalberts36 [2019-06-29 05:48:06 +0000 UTC]
...I just said what she needed in the rant.Β Β Subversion. She needs a person who can help her push back. She has specific expectations, and a list of how things should go, and here comes Phineas not only going against those expectations but also subverting them. She needs someone who can show her things don't always go the way you planned, things aren't always by the book, but that's not always a bad thing. Phineas is actually giving Isabella EXACTLY what she wants but in a different way. And BECAUSE he treats romance the way he does, his gestures hold a lot more weight to it.
Do I think Ferb could really do the same thing Phineas can? I think he could, possibly. After all, I think Ferb is a good alternative to Isabella. But could he do it as well as Phineas can? I don't really think so. There's an advantage to Phineas being the way he is. Heck, even in Act Your Age, Phineas subverts Isabella's expectations in the end: she doesn't EXPECT Phineas to literally pull her aside on the road and kiss her, but he does.
