Description So, I heard from a source on tumblr (who heard from Joshua Pruett himself) that initially Bradley wasn't going to have a plant arm, but MELISSA would've permanently become a Pistachion, which would've led to some cute development in her relationship with Zack.

You doubt my words? Read it! Here and here (they both go hand in hand)!  It was an actual concept, baby!

Honestly, I would've loved to see where this take would've gone, but part of me knows why they didn't go through with it...because Disney's a bunch of bloody cowards!

Kidding, kidding, but seriously, I don't think they would've been able to use Melissa as proof that not all Pistachions were evil, because one, she was TURNED INTO a Pistachion - that doesn't really prove jack - and two, that kinda would've demonized their efforts in erasing them from history to begin with? Just saying. Some things are just meant to be evil for the sake of being a fun obstacle for our heroes to overcome.

Well, not exactly? I mean, in terms of being a plant hybrid, yes, but Seedrians/Petali are more on the beauty scale of things - I think the point of Melissa's transformation wasn't to enhance her physical beauty, if that makes sense.

Of course not, I was only making a known comparison.  Seedrians and Pistachians are not the same people, despite having similar properties.

This is true, although...I have a sneaking suspicion that she might not have come back due to her lack of popularity. Granted, Sonic Fans dislike CHRIS to an unhealthy degree, so I don't trust their taste in...well...ANYTHING, but you know.

Well, when a character makes the number 2 spot in WatchMojo's top 10 most useless anime characters list, you start to think the fans are onto something, for once.

Galaxina-the-Magi In reply to aalberts36 [2019-01-19 14:31:48 +0000 UTC]

If you be talking about Chris, then I disagree with that list entirely. Chris may not have powers, but he was never useless. He helped find chaos emeralds, even risked his own life and limb to save the day. He got beaten up by the mother effing Ultimate Lifeform JUST to get him to see that destroying his home planet was WRONG - and he did it better than Amy did convincing Shadow in SA2.

And aside the stuff he did in Season 3.

I really don't understand the main complaint against Chris, at all.  It has been ages since I've seen that anime.

Galaxina-the-Magi In reply to aalberts36 [2019-01-20 03:47:18 +0000 UTC]

Yeeeeaaaaahhhh, it's actually really stupid why people hate Chris - the reasons are jotted down to him being a human, people thinking his character is annoying, people thinking that he's replaced Tails as Sonic's best friend, etc.

The human thing is just utter hypocrisy - people would KILL to be in Chris' shoes.

Now, Chris WAS a whiny kid in the show, so I see why people don't like him for being annoying, but one, Chris was a very lonely kid, and two, he got beaten up by the flipping Ultimate Life Form and has constantly risked his life in order to do good, he has EARNED the choice to whine a bit about stuff. And he doesn't even whine all that much, if I'm gonna be real with you.

Chris, in no way shape or form, replaced Tails as Sonic's best friend. Chris is, in fact, one of Sonic's closest friends, and CHRIS considers SONIC his best friend, but Chris didn't replace Tails at all. The reason why so much focus is on Chris, is because the show is technically in his perspective. He's a stand-in for the fans, essentially, while also having his own developed personality. OF COURSE a lot of story is gonna focus on how CHRIS' relationship with Sonic develops - Sonic is the protagonist while CHRIS is the main character (at least in Seasons 1 and 2).

aalberts36 In reply to Galaxina-the-Magi [2019-01-20 10:28:11 +0000 UTC]

And this same list put Max, May's little brother from the Pokemon Advanced Generation arc, at number 10?  Just, why?  When you say that, replacing Chris with furniture would be a grave disservice.

Galaxina-the-Magi In reply to aalberts36 [2019-01-20 18:47:13 +0000 UTC]

Well...come to think of it, I dunno if Max did much of anything in the anime. Although, I DO like Max - he added something to the show, so the fact he enhanced the series for me doesn't make him useless by any means. XD

I don't think any character is useless, so long as they're written effectively.  If someone is in a story that serves no purpose whatsoever, something's gone wrong somewhere.

That being said, I can't help but think back to that one TBBT episode where Amy points out that Indiana Jones had no impact on the story of Raiders of the Lost Ark.  Think about that, the main character in his debut film could've been completely written out and the story would've gone exactly the same way.  With or without him, the Nazis find the Ark, open it and all die.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Galaxina-the-Magi In reply to aalberts36 [2019-01-21 01:29:06 +0000 UTC]

I wouldn't say that. I mean, yes, that is true, the ENDING would've stayed the same - the Nazis would've found the Ark, opened it, and died - but that's not what the movie was about. Not entirely. The story was about Indiana Jones himself on a race to find the Ark before the Nazis. Yes, the ending stays the same, but without Jones, the movie wouldn't have lasted as long - without Jones, all we would've technically "needed" to see was the Nazis finding the Ark, and dying. All in the span of three minutes.

Granted, I've never SEEN the movie myself, but I doubt that the story would've been as fun WITHOUT Jones' story.

Galaxina-the-Magi In reply to aalberts36 [2019-01-21 20:03:44 +0000 UTC]

True, true. XD My point is, is that yeah, some protagonists of a story aren't REALLY the main focus, but even then we're just seeing the story unfold through their perspective then. That's their use.

Besides, Indiana Jones is a frigging badass from what I can tell - I love Amy and all, but she couldn't even pass college, and yet she constantly belittles her hubby. She got NO RIGHT to be dissing the Jones. XD Or maybe she does. Because again, I have never seen the movies, lol

aalberts36 In reply to Galaxina-the-Magi [2019-01-21 20:44:38 +0000 UTC]

You've never seen Indiana Jones?  OK, here's the main premise: Indiana Jones (real name, Henry Jones Jr.) is an archaeology professor who also goes out and nabs rare and mysterious artifacts from tombs long since forgotten.  Every movie, he finds an artifact of historical and/or religious significance (the first and third movies have him going after the Ark of the Covenant and the Holy Grail respectively), bad guys chase after him, usually Nazis and Indy plus female counterpart go on a globe-trotting adventure to stop the bad guys using the McGuffin to, you guessed it, take over the world.  Raiders is considered the best of the bunch, Temple of Doom is alright as long as you have a high tolerance for high-pitched screaming and annoying kid companions, Last Crusade is.......another one and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is...........crap, don't see it.  No really, don't see it.  It shoehorns in aliens for no discernable reason.

Well, the review was from an outsider's perspective.  Linkara did say he never saw Phineas and Ferb, so his opinion is based solely on what he saw in Mission Marvel.  Maybe if he saw the rest of the show, he'd sing a different tune.

But wouldnt that mean that its likely he WILL NOT like the show as a whole then? Mission Marvel portrays the characters very differently than in canon, save for a few instances...and Doofenshmirtz of course. He was in character, I will give that special that much.
