Hello everyone! Today we are finally going to start on the often mentioned Elemental Flux project, which has been inspired by the Elemental incursions, that have been plaguing the world of the Brigade for several months.

   Born in Quel'Thals during a tumultuous era, Ryder's mother died in childbirth, leaving the newborn in the care of her closest relatives. For a time, everything seemed to be well and the little one flourished in her foster home. From a very young age, she showed a great promise and aptitude for magic, which greatly pleased her foster father - a Silvermoon magister. That is, until her features started to deviate from that of a 'normal' elven child,and her guardians found out why Ryder's late mother kept the questions regarding her father unanswered.   Unfortunately for Ryder, the rigid views of her foster parents heralded a catastrophe and a second abandonment of her young life. Cast out from her foster home and left to fend for herself in the slums along with other orphans, Ryder showed a surprising resilience. Despite her troubled origins, the street urchin secured her livelihood thanks to her prodigal skill with fire magic and fierce personality. Attracting the eyes of mercenary mages and sorcerous thugs alike, Ryder managed not only to survive, but thrive.

   Years have passed and Ryder has transformed from a scrawny little elven child with odd ears into a tall, fiery haired woman with exotic features gifted to her by her half-elf/half-troll heritage. Her skill at weaving fire spells and enchantments became known far and wide, and soon reached the ears of Baberon Blackforge - leader of a minor elven noble house who by chance shared Ryder's heritage and sought to secure the services of the young woman. Ryder accepted the offer, seeing it as an opportunity to build a future for herself, and quickly became a valuable member of House Blackforge, serving as a Pyromancer in the house guard.

   Her unique approach to fire magic which combines her aptitude for pyromancy and the fact that she hears and can call upon the spirits of fire makes her a formidable force to be reckoned with. What challenges and adventures lie in her future? Only time will tell!

   I have finished Ryder both as a part of the Elemental Flux series and the faction focus for the month of August - which happens to be House Blackforge. This piece allowed me to experiment with many new things and I have opted for striking, yet limited palette and am planning to animate the entire piece, when I finish the rest of the Elemental Flux artworks. I hope you like the final result!
