  Auraine, a half Quel'dorei half Kaldorei, was sent away to Dalaran to grow up in safety. There, she gained mentors and friends while she learned skills vital to her survival, and completed her education. As she approached adulthood, one of her mentors gifted her with a pendant that one day she might give to the one she loved most. Attached to the pendant was a note:

  My nightingale-- When you fly free from Dalaran, I won't be able to watch over you anymore. The world can be cruel. Entrust your heart only to the person who you believe sees you, for all your beautiful facets and flaws, and still desires the whole. You will know when the time is right.

  When Dalaran fell and after the sacking of Quel'thalas by the Scourge, and the subsequent rise of the Sin'dorei, Auraine had the pendant's right side refitted with red gems, to reflect her new role as a masked man among the Sin'dorei.

I had the absolute pleasure to paint the Nightingale Pendant for astralfox0893 . The complexity of the intricate design and the idea behind it made it quite a treat and I have very much enjoyed the entire process. I hope you like the final result!
