Oh yeah, I guess it would've been good to mention in my most recent journal www.deviantart.com/galie/journ… that within the last month, Night managed to find me a free downloadable art program similar enough to photoshop that- despite still being on a shitty computer, it's in decent enough shape that doodles I've worked on in the last couple years can finally be inked and coloured?
I have an undisclosed amount of art waiting in the wings. It's all very old, and sadly only the pieces I think I can salvage in post will be submitted. That is not to say that the pieces I will be showing are "perfect", they're just. . . less terrible than the others?? Until I feel more comfortable with this new program, I've decided to at least submit my practice pieces.

A long, long time ago- during my Song Challenge Days, I did this piece www.deviantart.com/galie/art/5… and was not very descriptive about it, and even now I'm sitting there going. . . the fuck were you on about? On the left, the younger, happier Victor (Valor) Carter. To the right, the older, stoic Victor Cartier (Oooh, so edgy is the name change.) Although to help distinguish the sounds of their last names. Carter is just that, Carter. Where as Cartier is the french variant, said as Cart- E - yay.
Makes me wonder how Valor didn't catch onto some things. . . oh right, plot conveniences. And I know that needs to be smoothed out- but time travel is a messy mistress. These two are the same person, about 30 years difference, although I admit being rusty with my skill, Victor doesn't look as old as he should. A darker tone of skin, graying hair and bags under the eyes do not equal age, but experiences after all. And this isn't the first time I've drawn him without the eye patch, I hope this looks better then my first attempt at it www.deviantart.com/galie/art/3… (Wow I might have to redraw that- so much as changed. . . especially my art style ) One might wonder why he wears an eye patch if the injury doesn't look that bad. . .again, I'm working on it.

All jokes aside, when I was trying to figure out something to doodle, this just wouldn't get out of my head. Valor and Victor are the same person, would they look similar? I've seen photos of people looking one way and then years down the line, they look completely different. I've also seen photos of people who look the same from start to finish- you just know it's them despite time passing for them. Since Valor and Victor are the same person (despite being two different characters), how much of him would change? Experiences, for one. . . they shape who we are, and when you're young you certainly don't have the length that those older than you do. Happiness fades, the wonder in your eyes grows heavy and tired.
I did try keeping some things the same, like the shape of his chin, his nose, basic eye shape (although Valor's are much more wide and excited)- and I realize that their head shape is a bit different from each other. . .well, shit- that wasn't purposeful. And as Night has pointed out XD Look, EARS. I can draw EARS.
I've also decided to try to expand my colour palette, as most of my characters with blue eyes seem to have the same shade of blue. . . that needs to stop- and I'm glad I did. I really like this new shade I used. . .very pretty.
PS: Expect in the future, hopefully soon- a hilarious chibi.com related to this time traveling twit
